I'm not a hairstylist and don't follow hair trends but imo it seems to be a rather '90s hairstyle. So an attempt to follow and mix up the '80s/'90s mishmash comeback that seems to be happening right now.

Based off purely my memories of that hairstyle being styled on me back in the '90s when I was a teenager and was asked from time to time to do hair modelling stuff by strangers or be a practice model for a hairstylist/make up artist in training for her shoots.
