Best Digital Camera

Well I have one big camera the Canon EOS 5D, and it's the best camera ever in my opinion. Nothing can beat this Canons.

Bu I also have two smaller one a Panasonic Lumix with a Leica lens and a Nikon Coolpix. Although the Panasonic was cheaper is way way better than the Nikon, in fact it's just fab. The Nikon has nothing more than design, everyone loves it because it's so thin and slick, but it's very very sensitive and does not adapt to different types of weather. It only takes goods pictures when the light is perfect, and how many times is the light perfect?

What about Digital SLRs? or are we just talking about normal Digital 'point & shoots'? :flower:

^ I imagine we could discuss both, but the original post here was intended for 'point and shoot' digital cameras. :)

well, when it comes to the best digital SLR, i would definitely have to say the nikon D40. maybe i'm being a little biased b/c i'm totally in love with Nikon & i own one, but they are the most affordable & professioanl DSLRs out there. I've heard good things about the Canon Rebel, but bad things also. :innocent:

Canon FTW. :D

Leica's are fantastic too, but a little pricier. :flower:

There's much more on my flickr I've you're interested. :flower:

Yes, the Canon Rebel XTi is a VERY good DSLR. I've always used the canon IXUS series for point&shoot, and getting the XTi was a very smooth transition-it's very light, easy to use, and AFFORDABLE. The kit lens isn't the best though, I must admit...I'll be getting a new lens soon:)

Some pics taken with my rebel xti:

Some pics taken with my old point&shoot, Canon IXUS 75, which I LOVE still:

both are really good cameras...my DSLR gives me many more options, though, manual settings, aperture priority, etc. while my point&shoot is more efficient for taking quick snapshots, carrying around in a small purse, easier to take 'self'-pictures...

I'm buying a new compact cam and I'm not sure, Canon or Nikon? I had Canon Ixus a few years ago lol, but maybe i could try Nikon ... just not sure which is better. :)

the Rebel looks like it delivers AWESOME images. i am just so impressed with the shots posted, although i know they're still products of good photographers :D

@ Stasha: I personally would go with Nikon, but the Canon looks very impressive as well. When you say a new "Compact" cam, do you mean a point & shoot?

I am interested in purchasing a good camera and I don't know which one to choose. Can anyone please give me some advice as to which is better -
Canon IXUS range or SONY Cybershot range??

Thanks!! :flower:

i know that most people would tell you, w/o a doubt, to purchase the Canon over the Sony simply because of the brand. It's best to read online reviews, though. Whenever i read reviews on Canon's cameras i always read great things.

Yep, and I'm searching something not too expensive, to around 350€. I am thinking Nikon, but which one?

i would really love to see some image examples taken with the Sony DSC-t200.
what's it like?
i've heard mixed reviews :ninja:

It's true that people do recommend Canon a lot..not only because it's a famous name, canon cameras are very good and deliver well. It deserves all the hype that it gets. In my opinion canon has the most easy-to-navigate controls. I think the canon powershot G7 is the closest thing to a DSLR a point&shoot can be. I've never owned it, but I have a friend who does, and I thought it was some kind of compact DSLR. So that would probably be a good choice if you are looking for a point&shoot that is more 'professional'(with 10MP) and if you want a nice compact camera to use other than just for taking quick party snapshots and stuff.
