The brit girl rock it with a personal style and a different way of dressing: a strong personality that inspires some of the world's top photographers
I love a girl with style nothing makes me happier, it competes with dancing salsa. When I first met Bettine who comes from Willesden Green, northwest London, I should have known right away she was a Brit. I was casting for Italian Vogue's Black Issue, she was sitting amongst the other candidates and stood out immediately. Besides that cute face with long eyelashes, head full of natural curly hair, there was this off the cuff different way of dressing. No tee shirt and jean's for Bettine. She was personally invested in herself.

The natural instinct to express personal style has become oppressed in our model industry. For a new girl, an agent tell's the model: "wear tee shirt and jeans to castings". Well that won't work with Bettine. Its not coming from defiance, she a British girl, rocking it and some of the world's top photographers think so as well: Rankin, Nick Knight and Patrick DeMarchelier. Featured in ad campaigns for Diesel, Esprit and Mac Cosmetics.

Back in my modeling days, you got noticed, inspired others and got jobs from designers, due to personal style that impressed. Gone are the days of self expression in many ways when it comes to fashion modeling. Bettine isn't your typical model running to different cities doing the collections, and you won't necessarily see her in Vogue or Bazaar per se, but its girls like Bettine that remind us of the industry that we are in. And seeing her reflect that naturally everyday is inspirational, sans designer names.

Bettine doesn't need to shop that commercial culture, she gives it up to Edward Scissorhand as her fashion icon. And that's strikes the chord of a true bohemian.
