Model charged in theft, By Carol Rock, Staff Writer

LA Daily News VALENCIA - Model Beverly Peele, whose face and figure have graced magazine pages and runways for designers Ralph Lauren, Donna Karan, Prada and Versace, was charged Wednesday with using stolen credit cards for some $10,000 in purchases to furnish her Saugus home.
She is accused of buying furniture, large appliances, bedding and decorative items using credit cards that were in a wallet Peele found in a local supermarket and returned to the owner, a Valencia resident, sheriff's detective John Howard said Wednesday.
"The victim who lost the wallet started getting charges on her credit cards," Howard said. "She found out from one of the stores where they shipped the items and recognized the address as where she went to retrieve her wallet. Then she called us to report it." Peele was booked Monday at the Santa Clarita sheriff's station where she remained in custody Wednesday. She was charged with two counts of grand theft by access card. She did not enter a plea at Wednesday's arraignment, where a Jan. 5 hearing was set to review her $20,000 bail. Information obtained from a search of Peele's home resulted in the second felony charge being filed on behalf of an Orange County man who used his card at a modeling agency where Peele was employed.

I've checked this one out and all I can say is 'Wow'. It's so sad but real & not to mention embarrassing how some topmodels go wayward. It makes me think of Brandi and so many others. I would think she doesn't need the money, b/c she has made at least 3 million dollars I'm sure during her 1989-1996 career. There is so many other things that she could've done instead of this or to have prevented her from this. Hell in her heyday she could've landed some major millionaires and kept them if she played her cards right and I would say now too she isn't bad looking today either. I wish these girls & stars learn to save their money and that nothing last forever. I wish her the best and her children as well.

Bev was on Tyra today lookin stunning with a chic crop cut. Her daughter wants to model. I think she might have the look if she gets veneers or teeth fixtures.

I'm mad I missed the show. This is just the second of Tyra's episodes that I actually would've wanted to see. Her daughter btw should know a little something, since she was right there with her mom backstage with the Supers as a baby.

Here's my synopsis of the show:

Tyra first said that they can't discuss her legal case yet, but she'll be back later to talk about it.

First of all, Beverly looks so pretty.

I've never heard her talk before, and she's really articulate. I didn't realize Beverly was younger than Tyra.

Then Tyra goes into her whole "when I was 17 in Paris" bit, talking about how big and popular Beverly was. She was all, "People talk about Naomi, but you were huge too! You were one of the top ten models then."

Beverly started modeling at 12

and made her first million at 14.

Tyra said she remembers Beverly spending a lot of money all the time, even inviting poor old Tyra up from her windowless basement room to her plush penthouse while they were in Venice.

Bev mentions feeling uncomfortable in the Lagerfield dressing room as a young girl.

Something happened with Bev's father that made the news back then; it had her stressed out. She said she started drugs at 22, but she was drinking as a young teen. People thought she was on drugs before she ever was because she partied so much.

Tyra kept emphasizing and questioning her about her drug use. "How much did you do it? When would you do it? When'd you go to rehab?" blah blah. A turning point came for Bev when she missed a job with Meisel

for $50000. She said she didn't care. At one time, she owned a 3-story expensive apartment in NY.

Bev apparently didn't want to be a model. She says she stopped using drugs before it destroyed her life, family, and financial security. Tyra ends by reminiscing about the famous shoot with her, Bev and Naomi and Bev remembers how awkward the shoot was because she was friends with both of them.

Then Cairo, Bev's daughter comes out. She's 12 (so Bev is only 30?) and wants to model. She sounds smart and looking like her mother and the singer Brandy.

I enjoyed the episode alot. She was friends with Tyra and Naomi. She would talk to each individually because of the feud.

Tyra emphasized how lavishly Beverly lived and spent money back when she was modeling. Apparently, she was notorious in the industry for spending lots of cash and partying.

Tyra even said, "The industry treated you like a queen! " It was funny to see her in awe of Bev.

Beverly is no dummy, she went to modeling school as a girl. Her mother was a successful lawyer or something to that degree. But the money went to her head, but she was young. Plus she wasted her time on losers. And of course having that baby didn't help her career. But she made millions by the age of 18! But she isn't alone, the same thing can be said of Brandi. Beverly was a name, I guess some forget that now, but she was big, not Naomi big, but she was big, bigger than Tyra for sure. It's funny how she was on Bev's jock knowing Naomi is the girl but tries to downplay Naomi. Sometimes I feel even to this day. I say something's a little shady about that Tyra.

I can't believe that she of all people has her own thread here on tFS. She wasn't that well-known during her heyday.

Some of the more prominent models from the supermodel era don't have their own threads.

I guess I'll have to start those threads.
