Bibhu Mohapatra cited Wanda and Marion Wulz, the artist sisters from Trieste, Italy, remembered for their experimental photography and association with the Futurist movement of the Twenties, as his muses for resort. “These women were very liberated,” Mohapatra said. “They were pushing the boundaries, especially as women, and they interpreted color through their black-and-white work.”
The theme was rendered with subtlety, mostly in terms of color, as Mohapatra infused his lineup of day and evening dresses with painterly floral prints as well as graphic elements inspired by the Bauhaus movement. Pleated skirts and cropped tops felt polished yet youthful, and his gowns, particularly a lavender column embellished with all-over, flower shaped beading, demonstrated impressive craftsmanship.
