Bluefly bag-a-day giveaway....

Aren't most of the "prizebags" the same as last time??
Maybe they just took the bags from last year and set them up as this years prizes?!?!?

Has anyone else had trouble with Bluefly's homepage lately?? The pictures are all X's.

All they are doing is collect email addresses and any other information they can get:)

They are not giving any bags. They are then selling these leads to their affiliates and other companies for cash, anywhere from $5 to $50. TRUST ME:)

isnt it illegal if this werent legit?

i think it is, but your chances are poor. I have no problem playing, it takes the like five seconds to do so. If you guys are having such issues with it, than dont play

what you are saying isnt make sense. being registered with the site, i have not received any spam emails, so if they are selling emails, they obviously arent doing a good job at it. and the more i play, its the same email, its no more addresses for them

like i said, its really not a big deal, it takes five seconds a day. do i think ill win, hell no, but if i want to spend three seconds playing, its no harm.

also, it would be very illegal of them to not actually give away bags to anyone

Yeah, but I was making up fake email address to get the 2nd and 3rd plays. Did they actually think people were giving up their friends/family emails??

And yes, its very illegal. I wish I had pursued the matter, was just too lazy. All you have to do is call the attorney general's office. They would have filed a class action lawsuit, and everyone who entered the contest would have gotten money. Bluefly would be out of business.

masquarade-are you telling me that you receive NO bulk or SPAM emails???? Selling your email was an example They do much more than that. One word DEMOGRAPHICS

Why do you think a simple store such as toysrus or local grocery store collects information about you? Such as zip code, income..

trust me, I am in the business ;) and bluefly is making much more money than if they were to actually give away a bag a day

DPwoman, if you think that you can get something out of it then you should pursue it, we all should. I know the legal side as far as marketing goes but not the "actual" laws and outcomes;) oh and you'd be flabbergasted as to how many people put down their correct information

Bluefly's The It-Bag-A-Day giveaway

How exactly do you win?

I mean, first of all - how do you track down that shopping bag? There is no way.

So now that we've got that down, you're basically taking a guess. When you get it right, you get 10% off or Free shipping so where does that "It-bag" come in?

"...pick the shopping bag that contains the handbag. If you pick correctly, you are a potential Instant Win Game winner...you automatically will be taken to a page informing you if you are a potential winner. The Instant Win Game results will be instantly displayed. Entrants will be notified immediately by email if they are potential winners of the Instant Win Game and will be provided directions for validation.

...Odds of winning a prize depend on the number of eligible plays received during the Promotion Period divided by the number of prizes available."

that's from the THE IT-BAG-A-DAY GIVEAWAY OFFICIAL RULES.

Hope that helps :)

Merged with existing "bag-a-day" thread. Please use the search function prior to posting.

So annoying....I swear, I've played a million different 'instant win' games like this from other stores, etc.

You'd think the odds would be for me, considering how many sweepstakes I've entered. At one point I was entering 22 sweepstakes a day.

Nope, haven't won a single thing:blink:

And yet, I continue to enter the Bluefly contest......I really want those bags:lol:

Well, I found one thing its good for--getting an extra 10% off. Every time I play, I win "free shipping" or "10% off"......thats shady, but I guess they're making up for the fact that NOBODY wins any of the bags. lol

I'd like to see a list of the winners. If it's fraud then it's really shady, and of course they are just doing this to collect emails addresses. I gave them my spam email address, and in a couple of days I received more than half a dozen spam email from bluefly (even though I checked 'no' to receive daily reminders to play their stupid game) Since there are three shopping bags, logically there should be about 33% chance of picking the right one (of course, "paying attention" to the bags to find the "right" one is impossible, as you don't see the bags moving around, they disappear and then magically reappear) but even if you pick a bag blindfolded, you'd probably pick the right bag about 1/3 of the time. But are anyone doing just that? No. So obviously, it's a sham. Do I care? Not really. But I do pity the people who doesn't use their spam emails and who gives out their friends and familys' email addresses. If I cared I'd push bluefly to announce a list over the winners, to verify that they actually do exist.

I've been trying too, the funny thing is that they first show you a sort trial and then I always get it right, but when the real thing starts I can never get it.

Not really, if you do a pricing search or call companies, you'll find that most of the prices on bluefly are increased from the original suggested retail price by 20-50%!! I've esspecially noticed this with items that are on sale or clearance.... it's all fraudulent and I will be doing something about it if at the end of the contest they can't present PROOF of someone who won rather than just plain old names that it sounds like they made up...

To the person who mentioned why we care so much about a 2 second game. I cant speak for everyone but if the two second game is bull and tricking me into giving my email address so that it can sell it to affiliates with no intention of anyone winning an actual bag for the sake of profit -then not only is it a waste of time, but it's illegal, annoying, and decieving! I have been receiving emails non-stop from stupid websites that I now have over 70 emails in my inbox everytime I sign in and I do twice daily. It's ridiculous!

I actually won Bluefly's giveaway.

A couple weeks ago, I posted it about it on the Purseforum.

It's really not a scam, so don't give up playing.

I won a Marc Jacobs bag. The bag falls out of the shopping bag, but thats not necessarily the one that you win. The handbags are awarded each day in a random order.

And also, it's not a game of "guessing which shopping bag the handbag fell into". It's completely luck. It's a computer generated game that allows for one winning time per day. Could be 8 am, could be 10 pm. After that, noone wins for the day.

good luck everyone!!!!!
p.s. for everyone who was sure that this was a scam to collect e-mail addresses and for people to visit their site, don't you think Bluefly's lawyers would have already realized that they could get in very big trouble for that? That they could get completely shut down? Yeah, A huge name site like Bluefly who even has stock, a reputation to uphold, advertising everywhere, and is really trying to get their name out there, would not pull anything as horrible as that. Think about it.

You're preaching to the choir, I know ALL about Bluefly and their bogus prices. But once in awhile you CAN get a good deal. Recently, I purchased a Gucci watch from Bluefly. They had a 10% discount for "tax week" (whatever that is).....then I played the bag game to get an extra 10% off. I ended paying $493 for the watch, and its on Gucci.com right now for $750. So in this instance, I know straight from the designer what the watch retails for.

But I agree with you about the list, its totally bogus. I mailed a formal request to them for the winners list, WAY before the deadline....and I never got a response. Then someone posted this shady winners list with 'first names only' that they posted on their website.
