Jewelery that embodies an independent spirit and zest for life...
www.bochic.com

The easiest way to start the discussion on this is probably for me to post a link..
http://www.thefashionspot.com/front-row/1/bochic-137

there is an article on this jewelry on tfs's home page right now and it definitely caught my eye...

their black and gold pieces are pretty appealing to me.. the contrast definitely caused me to sit up and notice..

i think their work with gold seems to be their strongest looks...

what are everyone's thoughts?

I think their pieces are gorgeous. Really distinctive and beautiful. Like you I like the black and gold pieces, and I also really like their bone jewelery aswell. Wish they were stocked here in Europe! There are a number of pieces that I would buy on the spot if I got the chance - one necklace, one bracelet, 2 rings and at least 3 pairs of earrings :)

i was just browsing through the website and i think that the pieces on there are definitely really cool and interesting...

they're different from a lot of what i have seen out there and i also think that they are pieces that make a statement..

i don't typically wear dangly earrings but they've got a lot of really beautiful, unique looks that aren't overly large, but that still pack a big punch..

Bochic Baubles

We're used to seeing certain jewelers on the red carpet. They tend to have austere sounding names—think Fred Leighton and H. Stern. But at the Screen Actors' Guild Awards, the bling had a different ring to it. Andrea Bowen, Debbie Matenopoulos, Becki Newton and Jenna Fischer all wore jewelry by Bochic.
Andrea exuded funky chic in bakelite earrings and matching cuff. Becki's earrings had a cascading feel that meshed well with her Elsie Katz dress. Jenna' s sapphire and lucite earrings went matchy-matchy with her blue Colette Dinnigan dress. And Debbie's Bochic earrings balanced nicely with her Bochic citrine ring. The company first earned red carpet cred when Angelina Jolie wore their diamond necklace and earrings to last year's Golden Globes. Leave it to the queen of alternative chic to jumpstart a cool trend!

info on the the designers, excerpt from the tfs/bochic article:

David_Miriam_2008.jpg

Miriam Salat:
Miriam Salat began her career designing airports and highways as a New York City civil engineer. Tired of straight lines and right angles, she turned her attention to jewelry. Three months after designing her first collection, Miriam sold her line of hand-crafted fashion jewelry to Barneys. Soon after she added Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue, and Bloomingdales to a long list of boutiques that carried her line. Whether she sources materials in India or South America or in her own backyard, New York City, Miriam always strives to bring her unique look and flattering styles to her customers.

David Aaron Joseph:
For David Joseph, Bochic is a natural extension of his creativity. With a strong background in music and film, David also has an enviable level of experience in the jewelry industry. At a young age, David was introduced to the business through his family, who ran a successful jewelry manufacturing company in London. After graduating from the Gemological Institute of America (GIA), he embarked upon a career as a diamond trader and jewelry designer, culminating in the founding of Bochic.

Wow, such bold and strong pieces. They remind me of the middle east, particularly the colour palettes - they're like the colours of travel, quite arabian. I love the rings. What are the prices like?

not cheap...

depends on the piece but i would guess around $1,000+

Gilt Groupe/gilt.com is having a sample sale starting tomorrow of some bochic stuff...

thanks for the info chrissy...
seems like that would be a good place to buy the stuff because as you say, it's not cheap...
at least you don't have to worry about sizing so much when buying jewelry online...
:p

i like some of their stuff a lot and some of it not at all...
it's really hit or miss with me...
so much stuff...and i don't really see a particular signature style...

some fab stuff on gilt!!! im thinking of getting a bracelet! i dont really need jewelery..but it seems like a good bargain!! hahaa

I love jewelry design..
Esp. dramatic pieces..
But this stuff is too opulent, imo...
It lacks modernity & ease..
A couple of the pieces are cool,
& others are downright unattractive
or completely ptless from a design perspective...
Thank you for the thread, though, ChrissyM!
I had been wondering who was behind all this for quite some time...
