The exclusive boutique of UK designer Alexander McQueen on the fashionista’s haven Via Verri provided the backdrop for “Carousel”, interior pieces by Tord Boontje.
The collaboration explored the relationship between fashion and furniture and their influence over one another, inspired by McQueen’s Spring/Summer 2005 collection.
Boontje said: “Fashion has always been a great inspiration for my work. I like the closeness to the individual, the use of materials, colours and textures to express personality. For me it seems a real breakthrough to make wearable chairs as a true cross-over between furniture and fashion.”
The main window revealed a group of Moroso chairs, the “Doll Chairs”, covered with custom made haut couture covers by McQueen.
“I find it interesting to see how my original design idea can be executed in a very different format. My designs all centre around proportion, so to see that re-worked is a fascinating process,” said McQueen.
