The strains from the soundtrack of “The Sound of Music” playing in the background were a hint that Jackson McKeehan’s inaugural presentation wasn’t just another show. The designer offered up a collection with references from two polar opposite families: the Von Trapps and the Mansons — yes, that would be Charles Manson — but the marriage actually worked. He blended the two seamlessly in a lineup that included prints of nuns in the Alps, dancing goats, psychedelic hippie prints and cuckoo clocks.

There was a clear androgynous feeling, as evidenced by the tapestry printed Tyrolean jacket with a ribbon bow tie and coated linen culottes.

“My background is in men’s wear, but it’s very important to keep things fluid,” McKeehan said.

A welcome surprise in the first day of fashion week, McKeehan shows great promise for a bright future.
