I think you're talking about a sales rep who shows a label to buyers and gets the clothes in stores and boutiques, right? I work with a lot of sales reps because of my boutique. The sales reps usually work out of a showroom and not, like, directly for the company. So most sales reps are hired to represent one brand within a larger showroom, or perhaps they'll rep multiple brands within a certain territory. Some own their own showrooms as well.
I'm not sure about education, I get the impression that education isn't as important as experience. But doing at least a 2 year course in fashion would probably be a good thing. You can always start as a showroom assistant or intern.
Salary, not sure but they make commissions, as do the assistants.
