Céline S/S 2011 : Daria Werbowy and Stella Tennant by Juergen Teller

Daria is a bad bad choice for this collection. They need somebody with a soft yet strong face. Not a semi-man like Daria

it's great to see daria nabs another campaign but i have to wait for hq shots in order to judge.

daria is like the campaign queen this season. ONLY GIRL in every single campaign. talking about superstar power!

I wish they'd have gone for a classier concept..and a different photographer. I don't get why Celine is trying to be 'edgy' with its Juergen Teller shot campaigns, it doesn't suit the new image in my opinion.
Can't complain about choosing Daria though, she's trying to make the best of it

I wouldn't lump in Daria under the Céline girl category but I got a certain artsy feeling from some pieces of the collection and I could have easily envisionned her sporting them. Sadly they've tried to pass off the clothes as some high-end sportswear and I think that ruins it all (especially on the second shot).

Besides I love Céline and I know this has been thrown around a bajillion times, but they really need to drop Teller and his semblance of concepts. This collection held in wonderful pieces, with vibrant colors and delightful patterns but I bet they will all look washed-out and unpolished in print because of Teller's lackluster aesthetic.

I agree with that Celine and Juergen is not a match. Celine's campaign needs to be more clean, sharp, and minimal, just like the collections. Juergen's photography is just too one note, it just doesn't differentiate itself from others. Marc, Vivienne, and Celine; they're way too similar.

Meh! What a waste of an opportunity. What a waste of Daria! What a waste of an absolutely brilliant collection.

The main culprits are the styling (clothes and hair) and the photography. I quite liked Teller's minimalist aesthetic for the F/W collection. But this isn't so much minimalistic as it's lacklustre and washed-out, as others have pointed out. Daria per se isn't so much to be blamed as the stylist. Dunno, never got a sporty vibe from the collection.

I disagree with some of you. I think Daria is the perfect Celine girl -- cool, effortless, classic. It's just the way that the ad is shot makes it seem kind of awkward. But, I read an interview Phoebe gave about her first ad and she said she wanted to make it really about the clothes and the accessories and didn't want to take away from the collection by overdoing it with makeup, etc. Anyways I completely love it and I'm glad Daria got the campaign.

Other than Daria's "why are you taking my picture" facial expression, I like the images quite a bit. It does not seem Celine to me, but I am not sure if that is automatically a bad thing, especially since Chloe and Celine, for obvious reasons, are often interchangeable in my consciousness.

Look fantastic but too much same to Marc Jacobs

Not too keen on this campaign, to be honest. Daria doesn't look like herself.

Last season's campaign was much better and I wish they would have kept Sigrid but I am still happy to see Daria. I need to see the HQs before I can give my final opinion but it's really not that bad. ^_^

The previous seasons were FAAAAAAR better. Hate the looks they picked

I partially agree with these because, even though I never imagined Daria as a minimal chic portrayer of Céline, I do attribute Daria with that description. Naturally beautiful and effortless cool. I'm kind of bummed by the fact that Daria's sense of maturity - who could've save this fiasco by aiming the already mature Céline clientele - is not palpable here...
and what on Earth are they trying to do with that skateboard? -_-

And Teller again? I mean really?! I imagined Phoebe would've learn the lesson from those lackluster ads from last season and do something to enhance her weakest Céline collection to date.

C'mon Phoebe! You know you deserve better!

Even Daria can't save this. I just don't understand Juergen Teller's appeal, especially for Céline.

I agree! I wish the campaigns for Céline were as beautiful as the designs that we see on the runway. The campaigns remind me a lot of Marc Jacobs campaigns- which I also don't like. I wish the images were more polished.

What a letdown of what could have been a potentially great campaign, i agree with some of the comments mentioned: no matter how great Daria is in print (imo), she can't save this.
