Freaking amazing! She is seriously looking better than ever lately, beautiful shoot and adore the video of her dancing -- normally in these type of dancing videos the girls try to be too seductive and it ends up a little awkward, but Cailin looks at ease and absolutely gorgeous.

The video just sort of happened. The photographer said Cailin even turned him onto the band that she's dancing to. And this was obviously just a simple test shoot to partially revamp her portfolio.

...hmm. Wonder if Ford NY also wants some new teasheets for Cailin?

Let’s start from the beginning, where did you grow up and how did you get started modeling?
London, Ontario, born and raised. Recently a photographer told me that all people from Ontario feel the need to vocalize their precise distance from Toronto upon introduction–that would be 1 1/2 hours, 2 with traffic….

And after modeling for three years, how has your perception of the industry changed?
You know, I think my perception of the industry is continually evolving. It took me a very long time to realize that you can lead a completely normal life while simultaneously living the life of a fashion model. The glamor and the drama is there for you if you want it to be. But I tend to “keep it Brooklyn…” it’s easier to stay grounded out here.

Your blog Model Burnbook seemed to garner quite a following, so why did you ultimately decide to stop?
Well, when I started the blog I had no intention of anyone reading it except the people who knew me personally. So I put no filters on myself, naturally. Halfway through the course of the blog I had someone call me and force me to realize that I wasn’t just shooting the **** with my homies anymore–I was shooting the **** with the entire industry. I didn’t want to give people some watered down version of my opinion either, so I ultimately nixed the whole thing on a whim. (I stand behind my erratic Sagittarian tendencies….)

You seem to have a lot to say, can you see yourself picking up blogging or writing again in the near future?
Yeah, my booker at Ford really digs my blog–so I got the 100% blessing to bring it back! Had to stick a “the” in there because someone was screwing around with my old domain name a while back, so it’s now officially themodelburnbook.tumblr.com here we go again, and all that….

What are you up to these days?
I’m with Ford now and based out of NYC. It feels good to have an answer to the question “so…where are you based?” that isn’t “…my Heys luggage, actually.”

As a model who’s constantly traveling, you must be a pretty amazing packer…. What’s one thing that’s always in your suitcase?
I’m a packing wizard now. I try to pack nothing. I float through customs. But I’m known to hoard loose packets of tea and single sachets of bath salts from Japan in my carry-on (I hope that’s allowed…) and I always carry Burt’s Bee’s insect repellent with me in the summer months.

So, you’ve lived in Canada, Paris, Tokyo and now New York…which stamp is next on your passport?
I really want to go to Norway and see the Northern lights! A Norwegian friend of mine explained to me that from now until 2013 is supposed to be the peak time to see them. I’d like to get some friends together and film a little video diary of our adventures.

Based on your blog, you seem to be quite the movie/ music buff. What would you say are your top three movies and songs?
Movies: Scarface, Stand By Me, and The Darjeeling Limited. Songs: “Moonlight Mile” by The Rolling Stones, “Planets Of The Universe” by Fleetwood Mac, and “Journey Through The Past” by Neil Young (I’m trying to teach myself how to play it on the piano).

What is your biggest vice?
Fage Greek yogurt (the one with the reservoir of honey)…. I’m pretty sure I know of every grocery store and bodega in the five boroughs where you can find it for $2 or less. Me and my roommates are on a Fage yogurt sale alert. I will literally get texts from them like “Yo, Fage sale at C-Town–what u want!?!!!” No word of a lie. Admittedly, this is probably the healthiest vice that ever was.

If someone were to dress up as Cailin Hill for Halloween, what would their costume include?
They would for sure need this vintage German black & velvet alpine hat that I wear every single day. It’s absolutely falling apart, in fact it has no lining. But I love it and am very protective of it. That aside–a white button-down shirt, black blazer and some Tsumori Chisato trousers. With Doc Martens. I think I wear this everyday. I actually can’t believe you spotted me wearing a different outfit, baffling.

As a Canadian, would you ever rock a Canadian Tuxedo?
Heck yeah I would! It would probably be a white-on-cream denim one, too. Really grubby and dirty. I was actually daydreaming of Canadian Tuxedos on the train to the city the other day. Wondering if there was a Tumblr out there dedicated to them yet. I would love to start one and call it Canadian Tuxedos, Abroad. A travel non-style journal of sorts. It probably already exists though. I haven’t checked.

When you’re not busy modeling, what are some of your favorite things to do?
I love to walk around New York alone listening to my music, taking pictures and writing little notes to myself on my iPhone. I’m a big fan of alone time, clearly, and live music. I’m always searching for these life-changing concert moments…if all the models are at a club in the Meatpacking District, I’m gonna be on the uptown train to Harlem to check out a jazz show or hopefully at some make-shift live venue in Brooklyn getting moshed upon.

What is your dream modeling job?
I wish someone would be like “Hey, we’re shooting this post-apocalyptic themed editorial in the winter in Norway with all of your friends and we’re gonna camp out in tepees and have bonfires and oh yeah it’s gonna pay like some e-commerce commercial work….” That would be the dream.

What’s your motto?

Geeze, come on, someone in the industry wake up and give this girl the big break that she deserves. She is effortlessly cool, unlike this crop of try hard newbies like Charlotte Free and Agathe that the fashion insiders are trying to push as cool and most importantly she is stunning! And seemingly just seems to get more and more beautiful with time and each new shot. Love the new pictures, both the black & white with the hat and the colored with the hat are gorgeous. Introducing Cailin Hill

For an endearingly irreverent, 5’9″ (175 cm) girl with a predilection for spontaneous wardrobe modification by way of bleach, cheese grater, and even coffee grounds (yes, coffee grounds), modeling would seem a safe career path until, say, daredevil bespoke tailoring performance art becomes a more viable option. Meet London, Ontario native Cailin Hill, one of the latest models to join the Ford Women board that includes fellow Introducing Ford Models alumni Allaire Heisig and Emily Carter. Since coming to Ford earlier this year Cailin has settled in nicely having featured in the Calvin Klein Fall 2011 presentation in March. In the Models.com MDX feature for that presentation Cailin can be seen in the opening shot standing shoulder to shoulder with River Viiperi (Soul) and another five models away from Ford Men’s Ethan James, which well suited her, longtime admirer of all things ck. Most recently Cailin shot a forthcoming lookbook for Alexa Chung for Madewell and as of last night was on a flight to Miami to shoot for Marie Claire. Suffice it to say Cailin is well adjusted and busy, which is exactly what models expect when they join Ford.

Having spent the better part of an hour with Cailin yesterday I was impressed by many aspects of her not least of which included a distinctive personal style, the succinct articulation of which I associate with Hannelore Knuts, Hanne Gaby Odiele, and Christian Brylle. Cailin cheekily describes her DIY aesthetic as “Tompkins Square Park homeless chic,” which she achieves through a pastiche of methods from sewing to distressing. In a casting room full of beautiful models, personal style can be a selective advantage. To that end Cailin’s board has been incredibly supportive in permitting her to express herself in ways that merely wearing, say, an in-season dress would not. Expression is not limited to clothing, but in fact extends into other social media substrata including Tumblr and Twitter. Cailin’s voluble contributions to Tumblr by way of her Model Burnbook have complemented her modeling career to such an extent that last week she was featured on the Fashionista. Catching Fashionista‘s eye is no mean feat, but is one to which Cailin Hill is equal just as she is to her blossoming new career at Ford Models.

Another interview, she seems to be generating some buzz!

"F heels, they weigh my bag down," 22-year-old model Cailin Hill said as she walked into our offices recently. Wearing a coffee-stained white tee and a beat-up pair of Doc Martens, the Ontario native spoke remarkably candidly about her awkward teen years and boldly expressed her desire to work with controversial photographer Terry Richardson. Former author of the blog Model Burn Book, Hill recently modeled for Calvin Klein Jeans' fall 2011 collection, shot for Marie Claire, and has enjoyed face time with some of the industry's top photographers and casting agents. Look for her on the major runways this upcoming show season.


What were you like as a kid?
Oh man, I was this super awkward arty girl. My dad was an art teacher, so I spent a lot of time alone, drawing in these sketchbooks he would bring home. I spent a great deal of time rescuing injured birds and doing all those things that little misfit children do. I never had many friends, but I managed to make a couple of very close friends. I guess haven't changed much [laughs].

How did you first get discovered?
I used to work two part-time jobs to make rent. I was working at one of my jobs in the mall when an older model came in and asked me if I had ever thought about modeling. I remember lying and saying no, but I took her card. I came into work for my next shift, and my manager told me the agency had been calling, trying to get a hold of me. I then got scouted again working at Starbucks [my other job] a week after, and I told myself, "Self, you're an idiot if you don't try this."

If not modeling, what would you be doing?
Not sure, but I wasn't exactly rising up the ranks at Starbucks. I think I would probably still be a smart-alecky blogger, living in Canada. I never had the opportunity to travel before modeling, but I hope I would have found my way to New York regardless.

What's your favorite book?
Fahrenheit 451. I read the entire thing on this road-trip shoot I did in France. I can still visualize myself reading it in the back of this ****ty car, trapped in gridlock on the highway for hours.

What was the last thing you bought?
Colored panties from Victoria's Secret. I've been living a sad life of nude colored G-strings lately. It comes with the territory.

What's your most favorite and least favorite feature about yourself?
I like how I've come into being social. I used to be so antisocial before modeling, but this industry has forced me to get the **** over it and deal with it. Least favorite thing would be my inability to make eye contact with people. If I walk into a big casting, I keep my eyes down. It feels like walking into the high school cafeteria over and over again.

What scares you?
Other models. I'd rather look at them in magazines. Some things are better on paper.

Describe your style in three words.
Keith [Richards], Mick [Jagger], Patti [Smith].

If you could meet anyone, dead or alive, who would you meet?
Jay-Z. That's doable, though. I was in a bar a year ago, and he came over to my circle, and I just wanted to be like, "Yo, I downloaded your album illegally, but here's a ten with your name on it!"

What is in your bag right now?
The underwear I just bought, New York Magazine [which I just stole from you], Kiehl's lotion, Commes Des Garçons wallet, a tiny brush, a business card from the Vortex (a vintage p*rn store in Brooklyn), and a lighter from Train Bar in Tokyo that was shaped like the inside of a subway car.

Any photographers or stylists you'd like to work with?
Terry Richardson, naturally. And I would love to be styled by Anna Dello Russo; she has the most smokin' sense of personal style! She could style me to go pick up milk and eggs at the corner store and I would die a happy girl.

You're about to be stranded on an island and you can bring one person and one thing, what would you bring?
A beautiful male model, and earplugs so I wouldn't have to listen to him.

If you could change one thing about the industry, what would it be?
I wish there were more personalities, but then if you're 15 years old, I guess you're still forming one of those.

What's the one thing you can't live without?
This pair of Doc Martens I got for my first job at a movie theater when I was teenager. We needed black shoes as part of our uniform, and I somehow convinced my mother ... and the movie theater manager ... that they needed to be sixteen-hole Docs. I wear them religiously to this day.

Favorite thing about being a model?
That it can't last forever.

Worst thing about modeling?
Getting the question, "So, what are you going to do after modeling?"

And lastly, where do you see yourself in five years?
You mean, "What are you going to do after modeling?," right?
