It's strange to see CK Euphoria without Natalia, but Barbara is great, and this ads looks really good.

^yeah, but I don´t get what´s the point of replacing a model with a look-alike... not that Barbara looks so much like Natalia irl but here she sure does imo.

I think it's cute.I don't mind the model at all
Natalia was the face of this fragance for many seasons so I understand why they changed.
I very much prefer the overlayed image, though. Her eyes are enchanting :crush:

This is no replacement, it is a new fragrance. Though I don't want to understand why you would call a fragrance "Forbidden Something" and book an underaged model to front it. I'm suprised at how much she looks like Natalia here but I'm sure that was the intention. I would have welcomed it though if they had come up with something a little more original.

^Euphoria´s ads with Natalia still appear in print? I´ve only seen this one...

I know!
I was such a huge fan of Natalia for Calvin Klein, that might me the biggest reason I prefer her ads, even though I know it's another product (maybe the same line?).

no matter natalia or barbara ,it seems all the same..boring..
so i prefer natalia more, she is more appeal to me

I don't get the Barbara has been styled to look like Natalia comment when

You don't? Maybe this should help.

Still no resemblance in styling, look, hair etc?

So if she is styled like Natalia, she is also styled like a significant chunk of other beauty ads as well.

Beauty adverts follow an archetype, but no two ads look well-nigh identical.

My main gripe with this advert is this: What is the point in replacing a highly successful model with a another model who's a dead-ringer, and furthermore, employ the same styling/lighting/ambience? I suppose this fragrance targeted at a younger market, and Barbara is supposed to be younger version of the Euphoria woman, then wouldn't it be better to use a model that actually looks (and is styled) like a young girl. Natalia is 29, but she could easily pass off for a teenager, and Barbara in this advert doesn't really look younger than Natalia per se. Barbara could look younger in motion if they emphasise her height, but in print she looks exactly like Natalia.

This.

My problem is not that Barbara has replaced Natalia - and indeed, I had no problem with other girls and eventually Lara replacing Natalia for CK - but I just don't get the point of replacing a girl who doesn't really bring anything new to the table. I'd be equally opposed were Daphne to replace Lara in the CK campaigns and made to look exactly like Lara did in the earlier campaigns. Plus ça change, it would seem.

Like I stated it is no coincidence that Natalia look-alike Barbara Palvin was cast and my guess is that Meisel probably shot the Natalia images as well. As far as the resemblance, again as I stated, flowy fabric, reclining position and a dreamy ambience is a fragrance ad staple, so it is not as if they duplicated a very unique concept, although I will concede that the ambience here was probably influenced be the ambience of previous Euphoria ads, which often happens if you stay in the same product family, The question I have is so what? Now if it was a crappy image, I'd be right there with you saying why the heck did they not use Natalia or use a model with a different look, but it's not, it's beautiful image, so I ain't got a problem with it.

P.S. I think you answered your own question with your comment that this product is probably targeted to a younger demographic, and while you are right that Natalia can probably pass for several years younger than she is, perhaps the fact that Barbara is a more down-to-earth version of the ethereal Natalia is the vibe that they are going for, and it is a more "on-trend" look.

Reiterating, I just don't get the point of replacing a girl who doesn't really bring anything new to the table. Why are models generally recast? To capture a different mood, or a different aesthetic, or a different flavour. None of which is attained when you replace a model with the one who resembles her the most. To an untrained eye who can't be arced to open the thumbnails, Barbara might be indistinguishable from Natalia.

Yes, the image does look beautiful, but so did Natalia's. If they're going to replace a girl, they should present her in a different way, not rehash old ideas. I'm not wholly opposed to rehashing ideas either - the David Yurman campaigns for instance look identical only with different models - but in this case, rehashing and using a different model doesn't make an iota of difference.

^ I think that your criticisms are fair from an inside baseball standpoint, but again I do think that Barbara brings something different to the table, I can see why Barbara would be legitimately chosen over Natalia because Calvin Klein may have been going for a more down-to-earth variation of the original ads. Furthermore, Barbara is waaay cheaper than Natalia. Again Barbara's resemblance to Natalia probably got her in the door, it should also be noted that she did beauty work for Chanel, but TPTB could have very well considered other models and once everything shook out they decided to go with Barbara. I can't see them then saying "well since she looks like Natalia, let's call Natalia," it doesn't work that way.

It should not go unsaid by the commentariat that Barbara resembles Natalia in the ad or that the current ad has a similar vibe to previous ones, but at the end of the day it is a beautiful image and, IMO those are not reasons for the company to not roll the campaign out or for its beauty to not be appreciated.

^^I personally think Barbara looks more sensual and beautiful in an earthy way. She may resemble Natalia, but she appeals to me in a way that Natalia doesn't, just like Natalia appeals to you in a way that Barbara doesn't.

On a different note, I hate the name; it sounds like it was snapped straight out of a thesaurus. There's no literary flow between the two words at all.
