Don't know if you guys will be able to watch the vid, and you'd have to understand dutch to know what is being said but there was an hourlong radio interview with Cesar yesterday on a belgian radio called Studio brussels.

He talked about how he was discovered in Gent when he was 16 but wanted to finish school, that he went to Korea first to learn the tricks of being a model before settling in New York, that he has a cookbook coming out in the fall... etc.

Seems like a nice guy.

His cook book is coming out soon!

Have you ever wanted to know what food Julie Restoin-Roitfeld or Derek Blasberg eat in there spare time? Well our very own Cesar Casier has opened our eyes with his first cookbook entitled “Model Kitchen” which has been very well received! With 75 eat-clean recipes from Cesar and top fashion model contributors it surely will keep you in shape through the festive season… Toffee nut latte’s are most definitely not included.

The book will be released on November the 7th in Belgium and will hopefully be released in other countries soon.

“To cookbook or not to cookbook?”

That was the question model Cesar Casier asked in a post on his blog in April of last year, and his answer came shortly after, when a publisher reached out to the 24-year-old Belgian (pictured) and decided to help make his dream a reality. “I have a bucket list of things I want to do in my life, like make a club hit, go to Sydney, go bungee jumping, etcetera, and also, make a cookbook,” said Casier, who has walked major runways including Saint Laurent, Dior, and Missoni, and appeared in the pages of Paris Vogue, Elle, and L’Officiel, to name a few. These days, Casier is perhaps most recognized as the current face of Armani Exchange. But that might soon change when he debuts his first cookbook Model Kitchen, featuring 75 eat-clean recipes (some of which are contributions from his top model pals) and gorgeous food and fashion photos, next month. “I have this great passion for food and for fashion. I left home for modeling and I didn’t want to go to all these fast-food restaurants, so I started to learn to cook,” Casier, who is now based in New York, explains. “So, I decided to make a cookbook about what models eat.”

And let’s be honest, who doesn’t want to know what models eat to stay looking so good? You won’t find any revolutionary stay-thin secrets in Model Kitchen, but you will, however, find healthy recipes that are easy and affordable to make, along with Casier’s favorite dining destinations in the major fashion cities. “They aren’t touristy places, they are where I like to go with my model friends for a great cup of coffee or a drink,” he says. (Think: Café Gitane or Peels in New York.) “We did so much research, and there isn’t a book like this out there—not even Heidi Klum has done it,” adds Casier, who did the book almost completely on his own in between shoots with Steven Klein or Carine Roitfeld, from creating the recipes to the food-styling to the photos. But he also got by with a little help from his friends, including Derek Blasberg, who wrote the forward, styling by Tom Van Dorpe, and contributions from 12 of his top model friends, Lily Donaldson, Milla Jovovich, Karlie Kloss, Lindsey Wixson, and Bette Franke among them. From Jovovich’s baked salmon with asparagus and Julia Restoin-Roitfeld’s chicken dish, to Casier’s juice cleanses and Skinny Dips (good for carrots, not chips, folks), it’s all in there. Here, Style.com has the exclusive first glimpse inside the book, along with his signature Cesar salad recipe, before the tome goes on sale in Belgium early next month. Look out for Model Kitchen in select stores in the U.S. shortly after.

No matter if you over-indulged or exercised great control for the holidays; many people’s hope to start the year out with a healthy food regimen. MDC spoke to one of our favorite Belgian models, Cesar Casier (seen most recently in the fall/winter campaigns for Armani Exchange) about his new cookbook which debuted at the end of 2012. Filled with easy, healthy recipes by him and some of the industry’s most recognizable faces (Karlie Kloss, Suvi Koponen, Julia Restoin-Roitfeld, Jac Jagaciak, and Milla Jovovich and many more). Finally available in the U.S starting this week on Net-A-Porter, this beautifully shot tome is a loving homage to food, one of the best things in life.

MDC: What is your main purpose in creating such a book?

Cesar Casier: My main purpose for writing this book was to remove the negative connotation about models and food. I grew up with a big passion for good food and cooking which I got from my father who shares this passion of mine. My body is the instrument of my work and I believe in treating it well and making sure it is healthy but that doesn’t mean that the food I eat can’t be delicious!

MDC: Do you actually want to be a chef?

CC: No, I don’t. Fashion & modeling is my career. I never want to take away from that because it will always be my #1 priority. But food and cooking is a passion. I don’t call myself a chef, I’m an amateur cook. I just love to cook for friends and bring everyone together with the dishes I make! I really couldn’t find a great book that had the kind of recipes that I did for this. I not only wanted to show what models eat but it’s also a great book for some of my not-so-healthy friends to read and get healthier recipes for the foods they already enjoy and eat!

MDC: What stands out for you, in terms of getting the recipes from the models?

CC: I think the fun thing is that I know all the girls personally or that I’ve worked with them before. But meeting up with Milla to get her recipe was the probably most fun. We met up at a cute restaurant in the West Village and went to the Bowery Hotel after for a drink and had a great night out. She is the best!

MDC: Did you taste all the girls’ recipes?

CC: I did! Some of the girls made it for me when I came over to take the picture of them cooking in their kitchen. The recipes are all super easy to cook and very healthy and yummy, just the way we models like it!

MDC: Did you ask any male models?

CC: For this book I focused on the girls, but who knows… maybe for the next one I’ll ask my male model buddies to give me a healthy recipe. Even though I don’t really know that many male models who cook healthy. LOL!

MDC: Tell us about your shoot with Kai Z Feng for the book (and about the taste of raw fishtail)?

CC: I asked Kai to shoot the cover of the book and some inside pictures that come along with every new chapter. I’m a big fan of Kai’s work and worked with him a few times before. I also asked Tom Van Dorpe (Paris: Management + Artists, New York: Management + Artists) to help with the styling. I think they are both 2 great artists! I’m very happy with the result. Oh and about the fishtail, it’s just like putting a piece of sashimi in your mouth, you just need to get over the fact it’s a tail. We models do everything for FASHION ;-)

MDC: Any other interesting anecdotes about the making of this book?

CC: I think the fun thing was making the whole book in general. I really worked hard on it as I did everything myself (all the writing, collected the recipes, went food shopping to prepare the dishes and I even cooked all the food on the shoot and did the food styling myself).

I’m just very happy and thankful that I can say I made a book and that I can delete it from my bucket list. Now I have to think what’s next for me to do: Make a club hit? Have my own tv show? Or hopefully Model Kitchen Part II will be in the works in the near future….

Models frequently talk about "keeping busy" when they aren't working, but few are Cesar-Casier busy. Last year, between shooting ad campaigns, walking runways, and hitting the international party circuit, Casier released Model Kitchen, a cookbook that's a testament to the fact that, yes, models really do eat. "A lot of these male models just sit at home and smoke weed if they don't work; I'm not that kind of a person," he said in an interview with Into the Gloss. So our biggest question for Casier was: what's next?

Age:
25

Height:
6'2"

Hometown:
A small but amazing city in Belgium called Gent.

Agency:
VNY models

How were you discovered?

I was discovered by stylist Tom van Dorpe while walking home from school.

Your first modeling gig:
A Dior Homme fashion show.

Career highlight:
Working with Carine Roitfeld, Lara Stone, and Steven Klein for Vogue Paris.

Career lowlight
: Waiting for work.

If you weren't a model, you would be:
A chef.

Is that why you published Model Kitchen?

Publishing a book has always been on my bucket list. I wanted to make a cookbook about what models eat to stay in shape and to prove to people that we actually eat.

What was the most surprising thing you learned while working on it?

That every model that I contacted was very excited to work with me, and that they all loved food and cooking and had amazing recipes.

What do you when you're not modeling or cooking?

Currently I'm working on a collaboration with a Belgian fashion brand called Essentiel. I will design 30 pieces for men and women.

How do you stay in shape?

I try to work out at least five times a week for one to two hours. I love running, spinning, and ab classes at my gym. I also drink fresh coconut water and a green juice every day.

Describe your personal style in three words:
Black, chic, rock'n'roll.

Pre-show or pre-shoot rituals:
A good night sleep.

The one item from your wardrobe you'd save in a fire:
My costume National leather jacket. It fits me perfectly and my mom gave it to me. I think every man needs a great leather jacket.

Best piece of advice you've ever been given:
YOLO! My mom has been saying it to me for the last few months.
