I’m still very surprised by Chanel choosing Dua. She has a great management. Firstly no one from her fan base that’s of that demographic can afford a Chanel bag . Secondly she just isn’t a Chanel girl at all in most peoples eyes ……

It’s not the thinking anymore and it has not been in years. Vanessa Paradis never made people buy a Chanel bag and she has been the face of so many Chanel bag campaigns!

It’s just a matter of image, aura and the publicity it generates.

Even worse then because dupa leepa is the worst candidate for giving aura and image and for an iconic brand like Chanel specifically …

For me it’s always a matter of personal appreciation. I love Karl but I never fully subscribed to all the people he chose. Kristen Stewart, Blake Lively, Alice Dellal or Lily Allen weren’t my cup of tea at all. But at the same time, there was a counter balance with women like Rinko Kikuchi, Diane Kruger, Vanessa Paradis, Anna Mouglalis, Maiwenn and others.

I liked how Dua Lipa looked at the Met but that’s it. I still need to be convinced but she is a pop star. I don’t know if she is the biggest one, probably not but she has enough ties with fashion, doing tours and that’s why it’s relevant in terms of image and aura.

I prefer Dua to Angèle but since Angèle is the feminine francophone pop star that has a friendly fashion image, they signed her. I like Lous and the Yakuza but she is at Vuitton.

Personally I think that they could choose someone like Agathe Mougin or Adele Exarchopoulous to be in that campaign, dua lipa is SO basic! Particularly after THAT Versace collection my goshhhhhh

Do you really imagine Agathe Mourin or Adele with that bag? They would be even more miscasts. However, they are very Ghesquière. So very Vuitton. Or Paco Rabanne.

Karl could have loved Agathe but not sure she would have snatched a campaign.

Agathe wouldn’t be caught dead with one of those Chanel bags. As for Adèle, she completely lacks the effortless chic and elegance that foreigners associate with the house.

Adele is definitely better than Dua and she isn’t associated with pop music and versace glitter unlike Dula Peepa

Bag reintroductions are fun.
I see what they were trying to do; but I am very much hoping that we can come away from the 90's Chanel and really come into something new. Karl kept Chanel moving forward, I think that's where Virginie went wrong, too many attempts to recapture 90's Chanel instead of focusing on the new.

The song, the girls (somewhat new) the bag- all versions of reintroduction, when you really look at it.
