Chanel & Burberry part ways with Kate Moss

the only mistake Kate made was getting caught.

The biggest mistake she made was suing that tabloid when they came out with the allegations in the first place, and then not watching her behaviour. Had she just ignored the initial reports, they wouldn't have gone through the trouble of spying on her to prove themselves right. She was foolish to draw attention to it. The money she got from the lawsuit does not in any way compensate for the huge loss of income she brought on herself.

^Hey that wasn't me talking! I was paraphrasing what the model in the article said!
I was pointing out that ppl should not be so naive as to think this is some kind of exceptional situation. It is the dark underbelly of fashion that A LOT of models use cocaine and that we shouldn't put them on such high pedestals. It's a sad fact of the fashion world and the ES report was just proving that. I think it's sad that Kate was one of the unlucky ones to be caught and now she's circled out by everyone here and downtrodden when there are blatantly many others who do cocaine as well.

She DOES deserve it. She has to take responsibility for her actions; if she was fool enough to take cocaine and get caught, she can also take all the consequences. Not only does she deserve to lose all her contracts, I personally think she should go to jail. Celebrities shouldn't get off just for being celebrities. They should abide by the same laws and consequences everyone else should abide by.

That research experiment they did about finding cocaine on the toilet seats in the bathrooms of fashion shows AND at the EU parliament is so disturbing. Yikes.

Yes, it is disturbing actually, that there's so many traces of it at the EU parliament. It kinda shows you how full the prisons would be if all users were incarcerated.

Its amazing how some ppl worship kate moss almost as if she is a god. She did what she did and she has to pay the consequences, although Rimmel will most likely keep her because they need her. Profits went up hugely after Kate Moss became their face.

What is the EU parliament?

Keep in mind a lot of these brands would not have let her go IF they had not been hand-in-hand partners with, I believe, funds and causes towards well being and anti-drugs....

i think chanel is definitely trying to distance themselves from kate .. if the contract ends in october, then why not just let it fade out quietly? why make a point of making a public statement on the issue?

she did screw up bad, but it's sad to see her become the scapegoat for an entire industry and the invasion of her privacy is awful as well.

whoever said that she should have left that older cocaine-coma story alone is SPOT ON.

Given that H&M have hired Naomi Campbell, Bridget Hall and Anna Nicole Smith in the past they should have first hand knowledge of the horrors of addiction. You'd think given this ample experience they would have found a method to detect possible suspects? At least it does show some conscience - and it certainly is a worthy cause.

I agree somewhat that she is very stupid for getting into this mess. You can't really feel sorry for someone with all the wealth and access to wealth who could have saved it if she would only not do drugs. Seriously, she's stupid if she can't even manage that. I am glad she got found out for her daughters sake. At the same time I don't really care she does drugs. Big suprise there. Her private life is her private life but as far losing the contracts go...she's a dumb*** and I have no pity for her.

Wow.. Burberry cancelling Kate's campaings.. I'm actually suprised..

I guess Gemma has the next campaign all to herself now.

honestly, she REALLY deserved it. im literally laughing my a$$ off on the goings on.

i mean WTF was she thinking?

even worse is her 2 year old daughter.

and WHY on earth would she even hook up with that scum pete doherty?

I know what she did was wrong and I'm am very anti-drugs BUT is there any law in Britain that Kate can "sue" the Daily Mail for technically ruining her life. Now before everyone jumps up and down with "she deserves it" etc just let me explain what I'm trying to say.

This paper prints photos of Kate doing a bad thing which is illegal but now after losing her contracts she has lost most of her yearly income. I know she isn't exactly poor but does anyone else think it's unfair that they can get away with publishing the photos. It's not the public business what she does behind closed doors.

Can someone also explain to me how they can bring charges against her as their evidence is just photographs. She hasn't been caught with the drugs on her person or selling it. They should be going after who sold her the drugs and make her go to rehab. I think the Daily Mail journos are scum. It's disgusting how they can get away with this.

It's just like News of the World with the Beckham affair. That story whether it's true or not ruined Posh and Becks relationship and damaged his reputation. I just can't understand how the paper can get away with something like that. He didn't kill or r*pe anyone he just had an affair. He didn't hurt anybody except Victoria and their kids. That is not the public's business.

It's like these papers just all go "right which celebs life can we ruin today. Let’s see what dirt we can dig up, screw whoever gets hurt". THEY DON'T CARE.

You would think that these papers and journos had better things to cover like the fact that there's a fricking war going on that doesn't look like it's going to stop anytime soon or investigating people who actually want to hurt certain countries or sick people abusing children. Kate is only hurting herself and her family.

She needs to go to rehab, get away out of the spotlight and rebuild herself because if she doesn't then she will NEVER recover from this (sorry to those who say her carea is over but Kate is the Number 1 model in the world she will always be around, she has been to rehab once before and came back better than ever). If I was Jefferson I would threaten "You either go to rehab or I will take Lila away". I know it's harsh but I'm sure Kate would do anything for Lila and it might work.

Sorry if I sound stupid but I just don't think that the Daily Mail should get off. They played a part in this.

THANK YOU. Am I the only one here who thinks the media is being way too harsh on her? Lets be honest here, H&M, Chanel, etc are dropping Kate and then they will hire new crackhead models who HAVENT been caught because they're not under such media scrutiny. This scandal is unvealing something that we ALL already knew, that celebs and models snort lines like we drink beer.

H&M, etc, dont want to get flak for keeping KAte so they are pulling the politically correct card. Like they didnt know she was doing crack when they first hired her. :innocent:

It's unfortunate for her to become a scapegoat for probably a whole bevy of models doing the same thing, but she made the mistake and now she has to face the consequences. It's unbelievable to me that at 31, with a 2 year old child and a good career, that she would still be doing drugs and dating a drug addict. An addict needs to get treated first and foremost. You can't have a relationship with someone who isn't even "there" half or most of the time.

Anyway, Kate's made a lot of money that she can live off of, provided it didn't all go to drugs. Maybe if she takes a year off and gets herself cleaned up, she can make a comeback.

Personally, I think all of these models should be drug-tested, but someone told me it's very easy to pass a drug test, even if you've done them recently. If that's true, a new test should be developed ASAP.

PS...and yeah, I agree these companies aren't firing Kate for the good, wholesome reasons they describe. It's all about keeping profits up and their image intact.
