but if its race alone then how can you explain the success of models like jourdan, hollis, naomi campbell and liya? i'm not saying they did not face discrimination. but at least i don't read about how people hate them on this forum.

Firstly, Naomi and Liya are in their own catagory. Secondly, If it weren't for Chanel black models would still be less successful then white models. I'm not saying may aren't still, but I've see progress made not only from Jourdan walking for Prada. But Chanel walking for Valentino and Dior long before Jourdan was even discovered. You have to remember we haven't seen a black model with as much success as Chanel in a very long time, people are use to see only white models walk the runways of Milan and Paris. Now that more black models are getting discovered and are actually getting more and more equal work as white models what is the need to hate? Then you'd be a racist lol! I'm happy to see more and more black models gain more success in this industry! It is long overdue if you ask me!

don't get me wrong, i totally agree that success for black models is entirely overdue. and i'm a huge supporter for diversity in fashion. i'm just trying to see if there any other reasons to dislike Chanel besides her race.

its really sad to see people that hate chanel so much...personally i dont think shes the best, but i still love her all the same, she has an outgoing personality and as for her myspace page, C'mon yall, shes still a GIRL at the end of the day, not a mature woman...to me personally, its nice to see a goofy/cute side to a model rather than the up tight faces we see on catwalks all the time. Chanel is comming into her own, and im really happy that her career is rising as the seasons go on, with time she will be even better, i can see improvments since she first started and i look forward to her future work

Chanel is - above all - very photogenic. She's also, like Liya, beautiful and elegant. But unlike Liya she is far more emotive and effortless. Though Liya is perfection itself, she's rather stiff. Not so Chanel.

The thing that irks people, I think, is the fact that she got into the fast track that is usually reserved for the quirkies that catch the eye of Maestro Meisel. Chanel doesn't look like she lives the life....she doesn't seem cool in the conventional, easy to understand way, but - in fact - she doesn't seem to give a flying f. Which is what I like about her....she seems to switch between this immeasurably elegant creature and that goofy girl.

I think it started because of all the hype surrounding her inclusion to the top model Vogue cover last year. (It's almost like Catherine McNeil's christening as the next supermodel with everybody being like, what? Undeserved!). I didn't think it was undeserved, she provided a nice contrast to all the blonde, patrician, blue-eyed models there whom the ordinary man on the street will not be able to tell apart. I thought it was more of a "token black model" move by Vogue more than anything. But she didn't lie low after the brouhaha over that... what some people saw as spunky antics appeared dumb to others, so I dunno... I don't hate her, I like the fact that she is around.

I understand the whole Vogue May Issue ordeal, but why must they take it against the girl, if anything they should take it agains Anna Wintour who hand picked the girls, not her! If someone offered you a Vogue, Im pretty sure you would not have passed the opportunity!

I really dont have anything to say, I am kind of speechless. Chanel has grown so much since her first appearance on the scene. She has such a range of expression at the present, and still so young.
