Chanel Iman

This is just an observation, but whenever I see a pic of her I see her as more asian than black. I find than the makeup or the lighting or whatever, seems to make her skin very light. It could also be the hair, I kind of miss her curly hair from the beginning of her career but I guess the "long straight weaved" look is more marketable.

love the Russian Vogue pix - yeah Pat Cleveland in the best possible way

black ppl and mixed black ppl come in many shades. Chanel happens to be fair skinned with alot of bright light she is going to appear lighter. In the summer her skin will get darker then in the winter she will look more pale. I dont think they do it on purpose when it comes to her skin thats just the way it is with fair people of colour. Also for the hair it probably is more marketable with straight hair but its also WAY MORE managable. Taking care of natural hair is very difficult and time consuming. Especially since shes a model who is probably always on the go having her hair like that must make it easier for her as well.

thanks for explaining the skin thing. as a pretty fair skinned black girl i get tired of explaining it to people, especially when it comes to photos.

i do have to respectfully disagree with natural hair being harder to take care of. imho, my natural hair is much easier to take care of than when i was relaxing it/ blow drying it straight everyday. of course, i'm not a model, so i have no idea how hard it is to take care of for a model. as a normal chick, i find it easier, though, once you know how to work with it. btw, i thought chanel's hair was always fairly straight and the curly look was done with a curling iron or something. i could be wrong, though.

She's all types of fierness in Vogue Russia! Thank you so much J'ador-DioR:flower:
