Chanel Iman

Is she? I recall Anna chopping her directly by name from a spread in the September Issue movie LOL. I gagged

That was in September of 2007 before she became a regular Vogue US girl. Since then, she's in Vogue almost every month.

FYI that spread that Anna "killed" did not end up being canceled after all. It was the Steven Klein shoot she did back in her early days. Hilary Rhoda got cut but Chanel appeared in it.

Well wasn't the interview about her???? So it is only expected for her to be saying I I I and me me me? Sometimes I feel people are just knit picking at chanel and just waiting at the edge of their seat for her to say or do something wrong in order to star hating on her. They just need to let it go....she obv not going any where, if you don't like her just let her be and keep it moving, because she honestly not paying attention to any of her haters! I cannot wait for Chanel to STRUT down that runway!!!

I have seen more than this FTV clip before and I haven't seen anyone so unabashedly self centered. As I said, that's fine, it works in her favour, makes her stand out. But I think it's a pointer to what people get bothered by. They're used to this aloof, cool, well almost sedate, European attitude and here's a girl who acts like she is just what she is, a California girl.

Really, I think it's pretty clear if you go through this thread that I really like her work and have from the start....but recently I was wondering how people could complain about the lack of black models or Asian models and here's a girl who is both, a beautiful combination, and about half of model fans seem to dislike her. Yet, she is perfect, and American Vogue instantly recognized that. Frankly, I find the extreme criticism of her disturbing, and I've been trying to find an innocuous explanation....this was my best attempt :innocent:

At the end of the day, though, what does it matter as long as she's as great as she is. Hoping she'll get a campaign that lives up to her potential this season.

Just because you're hungry doesn't mean you should eat bad food (Chanel), when good food (beautiful black or asian models- i.e. Jourdan Dunn, Du Juan, etc.) is within sight. What's there not to understand?

Not everyone finds Chanel as "bad food" though. It's all opinion.
I, personally, like her alongside the other ethnic models, and she is good at what she does. She wouldn't be booking coveted work such as a runway spots at Balenciaga or the VS angel contract if she wasn't so deserving to be a model at her status. So I agree that all the criticism is getting so so old. We get it, some people don't like her. We don't need to hear it every other post, no matter if it's opinion or not, which most of the time isn't even constructive criticism in the first place.

Hey I have a question.
I very often read disrespectful comments about Chanel, where people say she's stupid, bitchy arrogant etc.
But why do so many people don't like her???

There isn't a reason. Chanel is just that girl everyone hates on for no particular reason. At first I found it odd, but you get used to it. She's not my favorite girl, but I appreciate her as a model and I love her personality.

I'm glad she got VS. Chanel can't for the life of her book campaigns, and she's too special just to be a runway girl, and I'm not sure she's a beauty girl either. She's always wanted to be a celebrity model and this is the best path for that. I expect her to adjust her body to be more suited for VS and I think she'll have tons of success.

Tbh we all know why Chanel REALLY isn't booking campaigns! :doh:The same could be said for a select group of her peers.....:innocent:

She has an editorial in the December issue of US Vogue with Sasha and Coco shot by Annie Leibovitz. :D

I have noticed that too and it irritates me, because Chanel is very confident and communicative, and it is interesting to watch her speak (especially in those Fashion TV` models talk or model diary etc.). I really prefer that and she is a good role model for other girls, they should express their real opinion while commenting on some designer instead of saying the same old stupid mantra: "it is nice. it is very nice. i love it":innocent:

^Yes, I do think her being outspoken and able to speak English well puts her out there. She can't fall back on not knowing the language so that she can pass for just shy...like most. She could be just wild and crazy like most of the Brazilians...but instead she is an all-American girl.

You made my day:lol:
Yeah, that's sometimes really annoying, but I think it sometimes because of the language. They prefer to say "nice, lovely" because that's easier to say (Example Regina Feoktistova. I don't want to be the interviewer and talk with her:innocent:
Maybe people don't like chanel for that reason, because she says want she want to says...?

Omg yay for another RL campaign! But are there more girls alongside them? I thought it was Izabel and Bruna as well
