This Valentines Day, our hearts belong to Chanel Iman. Teen Vogue got to spend some QT with our lovely former cover model backstage at the Tent, where this queen of hearts (and editorials) was decked out in her full V-Day regalia (an I <3 My Boyfriend tank, red zebra leggings, a feather boa, and a cherry bright 2.55 Chanel bag) to celebrate her cover for the first-ever issue of MODELINIA magazine, and the holiday!
Congratulations on your MODELINIA cover! So is this another one to add to the wall you have decorated in your apartment with all your covers forKorean Vogue? Teen Vogue, Vogue, and
Yes, definitely. I've got it up already!
So tell me about this wonderfully festive outfit you have going on here.
My boyfriend doesn't even know I have this shirt on, so he's going to be super excited when he sees me! He's flying in from California tonight. It's just something I found at Forever 21, actually. The leggings are Alexander McQueen.
We've definitely missed seeing you this New York Fashion Week, when are we going to be seeing you again on the runways?
You'll see me this afternoon at DVF! You'll also see me at Thakoon and Ralph Lauren. You'll see me in not as many shows this season. I'm good with doing just one show, if the people are amazing to work with. For me now, it's all about my relationships with designers.
I'm actually working with Teen Vogue on a contest called L.e.i. Model Citizen -- a model call for girls to showcase their inner and outer beauty. I love being a part of it because that's where I was at one time in my life: I wanted to be a model, and I wanted to be the best at it. I support young girls who are trying to start, the new faces.
So what's next on the agenda for Chanel, Supermodel? Any plans to add a slash to your name, model/actress, model/designer...?
I'd actually really love to be an editor! And I love Teen Vogue! It would be amazing to be at Teen Vogue, to put stuff together and share my creative vision.
I could be wrong but I thinks thats her real hair.
....Chanel will probably not do Marc Jacobs! Well be lucky if we see her @ Michael Kors and Ralph Lauren.....and thats about it!
Fashion Week isn't just about the clothes. It's also about the models wearing them.
And as the buzz for model news continues to grow, Modelinia, is there to serve up the goods on our favorite catwalkers.
The media brand who is constantly churning out the latest in model-related news and advice kicked off Mercedes-Benz Fall Fashion Week 2010 with a daily television show and limited edition magazine featuring four different covers with models Coco Rocha, Chanel Iman, Kemp Muhl and Emily Didonato.
StyleList recently caught up with Chanel Iman at the Mercedes-Benz Star Lounge where she talked about her Diane von Furstenberg-inspired haircut, love for OPI's nail lacquers and a beauty trick that's sure to come in handy during stress-filled Fashion Week. Read on for our interview with Iman.
StyleList: Which looks from Fashion Week have you been made up in that you love most?
Chanel Iman: I just started yesterday [February 13] because I was in Miami shooting, but today [Sunday] I have DVF. And Diane said she loved my new haircut. It's very her and when I cut it I thought about her. As for my personal style, I'm just going for a short look -- really casual and just my age. Not too much, but not too little.
SL:What beauty products are always in your handbag?
CI: My hairbrush and hair wax by Vonté for the front of my hair because sometimes backstage the hairdressers don't have what I need. I just washed my hair and I usually use Pantene.
SL: Are there any shades of nail polish that you think looks great on your skin?
CI: I like OPI's Russian Navy and their reds.
SL: What skincare secrets do you swear by?
CI: I do this every once in a while and that's put toothpaste on a pimple. My Auntie Tita, who got me started in modeling, taught me that. I've been doing the toothpaste trick forever! And putting olive oil on my hair.
SL: Have you heard about the gray hair trend? Supermodel Kate Moss recently streaked her locks in the color? Would you ever consider wearing it?
CI: Really? Oh, great! I'm up for any new hairstyles and a model is supposed to transform herself and make it look good. So, I would totally do it!

....chanel is not the buisness this season!
