Chanel S/S 2023 Paris

Knowing Virginie's standards, it's not THAT bad. For once, we got a lighter, more focused collection from her. However, I'm not sure if those clothes will be enough to save the brand from the wave of criticism after all the fails, such as the infamous Advent Calendar, dramatic quality issues, tragic customer service and questionable price increases, applied every month. At one point, people will give up on Chanel pieces which are literally falling apart on the runway. I believe it's way more problematic than an unimaginative creative director.

Is it just me or does it look like Virginie was crying in the finale?

Thanks for the posting, dear @Frederic01, but you have missed about 20 looks, so I'll re-post the whole collection again:

It is indeed her most convincing collection so far. I liked it. But the stories of quality issues for such a high profile brand will forever haunt her career at Chanel. You simply can't let such a powerhouse crumble.

stunning collection. maybe my favourite in paris (though that isn't saying much)

the music was fantastic, super elegant chic, no stupid stunts. all about the collection

It's definitely an improvement, it's lighter, without stupid gimmicks and way more figure flattering. The polka dots add some kind of youthfulness to the wardrobe.

I haven't revisited the film since the last time I saw it in college but was that "Last Year at Marienbad" playing in the background? I only caught the glimpse of the livestream at the very last minute. I understand and appreciate the film's strong association with the house but Virginie, gurl, you do need more inspiration.

Anyone knows what version of Chopin's Prelude in E Minor that plays in the end of the show?

Yup it's Last year at Marienbad

I honestly don't get why the maison is so obsessed with Kirsten. She's not at the top of her game as an actress like Tilda Swinton so she doesn't really give cachet to the brand (it's the other way around and she's pulling it down imo - and for one Spencer, there's a dozen Snow White), and her stans don't have Chanel money so it just doesn't make sense. I know she's Karl's choice - but Virginie is so clueless and doesn't really have a point of view so she just continues what has been done before. It's just so boring, uninspired - just like her collections.

As for this collection, it's good at some parts, for her standards. There are some pieces here and there that are nice - lighter than the usual fare - like the collections of the mid-90s (after the flashiness of the early 90s and before the streamlined modernity by the end of the millennium). I can see how some of these looks would sell - it's refined Chanel basics. But my gawd, that opening number - do freakin' better! Those closing dresses are just not the look. If clients can overlook the quality and CS issues, they'd have some things to buy and wear, but for the positioning Chanel wants to have, this work is still wildly wanting.

I watched the clips on their IG with K-Stew before I saw the full collection here. In motion, the clothes look great and fantastic! Such a good collection from Chanel. The gold dresses are sublime
