Chanel S/S 2026 by Alec Soth

Tell me this is AI, please. Or fan made. If it isn’t, he just put the nail in the coffin.

This is VILE!!!! My goodness I wanna cry 😭

Poor Chanel must be dying of cringe. I’ve seen better campaigns from Danone.

If only they would’ve gone for something like this… like if they were leopards in the trees with the ugly headpieces, just two models, like a very laid back aesthetic a la Meisel with Sasha in the bed in 2006, with not very saturated colors, something chic… I don’t know.

But he took the inspiration and did something incredibly ugly with it… awful.

A friend of mine said that you just have to have 0 imagery in your braid and 0 cultural background to come up with this garbage, and I totally agree. You can’t come up with this piece of sh!t if you ever read a photography book I’m sorry. It’s not subjective.

agree and what i saw already in the BV ads and knew he will continue the same way its lifeless and zero creativity.

just choosing a Chanel home and bombard it with models wont make something more Chanel.

there is no file rouge in anything he does its random and more is more with no wow effect.

its a mix of ignorance and arrogance towards the house.

it was shot by Alec Soth

it’s actually so frustrating that I’ve been rooting for him but it feels already like he’s a very limited designer in terms of vision
did the chanel president not say we don't want someone that comes and does same thing they do at every house????? lol

Interesting. Perhaps not surprising though, given that he did shoot a Bottega ad not that long ago.

Dennis Freedman was the only person who could get art photographers like Soth and diCorcia to do beautiful fashion work. A lot of younger creative directors and designers have tried to emulate W's approach to using these artists but it's just never worked. It's not the 2000s anymore; they can't give them the same creative freedom they had for the aforementioned editorial projects. The idea that it's still going to work is silly, especially with the limited capacity for genuine creativity these days. This is totally case in point.

this is VILE… giving sisters fighting in KUWTKIMG_0937.webp

So he's just really doing BV The Sequel image-wise? The Thornfeldts who shot BV FW22, PF23, FW23, PS23, SS23, S&W Solstice 2024, PF24, PS24, PS25 shot his Chanel Holiday 25 and SS26 lookbook and Alec Soth who shot BV SS24 and FW24 shot his SS26 campaign.

Putting the lazy in Blazy once more.

This entire Forum is so baffling.

A campaign shot on a basic white background gets completely ridiculed for being basic and boring.
A campaign shot on location with actual movement and effort gets scrutinised and pulled apart.

I also again think people forget how AWFUL many Chanel Campaigns were under Karl. This by all means is not the worst set of images we have ever seen.
And youre all shocked that it looks like Blazy's Bottega Venetta....Babe...
THATS HIS TASTE.
Thats why he was hired.
They want THAT look!

Hes using the same photographers and same stylists and same teams. Which is what happens when EVERY new CD takes a new house. OF COURSE it looks like HIS PREVIOUS WORK.

Imagine you are going to succeed the most legendary designers ever (Karl and Chanel herself) and your brain can only come up with something like this… do you think he’s proud? Do you think he sees his limitations?

He’s in the top house and that’s all he can offer. As my beloved Karly said, the world is unfair and you have to take it for granted, but someone in his position releasing something like this is beyond my mind.

Babe, that’s not even the problem.

You can do a studio pics and the result can be wonderful too: Avedon, Penn, Meisel, Helmut, CVW…

And you can shot in location and the result can be terrible as well. The fact of introducing movement and a location doesn’t make it good, like you can see here.

Some Karl campaigns were amazing. The ones with MCB in Biarritz, the ones with Angela, the ones with Daria in LA… MB only wishes.
