Charlotte Free is the New Face of Maybelline

Putting aside the fact that she is highly annoying and that I despise her. Why would anyone want her modeling cosmetics? Her skin is splotchy and uneven in all of the pictures I've seen of her. She doesn't have commercial appeal either. Scraping new lows Maybelline.

This is NOT the best way of getting the young and cool crowd to buy your products.

My first thought was, "is that the hairy, pink haired girl?" I kinda suspected that Maybelline would be adding a blonde sooner rather than later,* and I was rooting for one of my faves to snag the contract, but c'est la vie. At first I was not feeling the announcement video, but it got better, ironically after Charlotte's bit ended.

* I consider Charlotte blonde, although I know that some may see it differently.

So I guess they're giving away these contracts to just anybody nowadays.

I have mixed feelings about this. I think Charlotte is an extremely pretty girl and she apparently has a huge fan base (I used to like her, too...before I found her tumblr) but she's such a weird fit for a cosmetics brand. She has bad skin, damaged hair, a juvenile attitude; not really attributes one would associate with beauty brand spokesmodels.
At first I thought she might just be the new face of the younger MNY line but the video suggests otherwise.

Here's an old shot she did for MNY, about a year ago:

Very curious to see how Maybelline will use her. The "girl with the pink hair" number won't work for long. In fact, I think we've all been bored of it for quite a while already :ninja:

First Arizona for Estee Lauder (which I could tolerate since I have to admit she takes gorgeous beauty shots..) and now this?? What next?

Don't make fun of the sweet Mirte (a), she already did two beauty campaigns (cosmetics) for RMK and Tom Ford.

But Charlotte is such a bad choice, imo.

I'm not looking forward to it. She will probably get even more undeserved attention now.

Oh give Charlotte a break, Maybelline wouldn't have chose her if they didn't know what they were doing. She may not be your obvious choice for a high fashion model but just wait till those campaign shots come out before you can say anything. People seem to forget that the brands like maybelline and Estee Lauder don't give 2 cents for many high fashion models, just leave those models to the fashion house brands instead.

There is really nothing special about her and certainly not beautiful enough or even striking enough to be a beauty model. I think this is a reflection of just how good IMG is at selling their models.

I really like her, I'm glad she's the new face of maybelline. can't wait to see more about that.
