Chrissie Hynde

it's really uncanny...i look back through the years...and i definitely went through a chryssie hynde
phase for awhile without even realizing it...

music and mtv had such a huge influence on me in the eighties...punk/new wave...bla bla bla...
i didn't even realize how much...she's pretty cool though...so i guess it's ok...

and all those pieces are still in my wardrobe...i just wear them a bit differently now...
i bought a killer sharp sharp sharp cut white blazer from ann demeulemeester and wore it with a blk shirt untucked and blk leather jeans..it's almost identical something she's worn...hmmm... :innocent:

I totally understand how the music has its influence
Good nite dear friend, Thanks for the memories, until next time..

Chrissie Hynde’s Advice to Chick Rockers

1. Don't moan about being a chick, refer to feminism or complain about sexist discrimination. We’ve all been thrown down stairs and f--ed about, but no one wantsto hear a whining female. Write a loosely disguised song about it instead and clean up ($).

2. Never pretend you know more than you do. If you don't know chord names, refer to the dots.
Don't go near the decks unless you plan on becoming an engineer.

3. Make the other band members look and sound good. Bring out the best in them;that's your job. Oh, and you better sound good, too.

4. Do not insist on working with "females"; that's just more b.s. Get the best man for the job. If it happens to be a woman, great - you’ll have someone to go to department stores with on tour instead of making one of the road crew go with you.

5. Try not to have a sexual relationship within the band. It always ends in tears.

6. Don't think that sticking your boobs out and trying to look f--able will help. Remember you're in a rock and roll band. It's not "f-- me," it's "f-- you"!

7. Don't try to compete with the guys; it won't impress anybody.Remember, one of the reasons they like you is you don't offer yet more competition to the already existing male egos.

8. If you sing, don't "belt" or "screech". No one wants tohear that sh--; it sounds "hysterical".

9. Shave your legs, for chrissakes!

10. Don't take advice from people like me. Do your own thing always.

;) :punk:

Does the Garbage song "Special" rip off the Pretenders?

Not really, since it was done as a tribute. Shirley Manson of Garbage explains:

"The point being that our lawyers started getting really freaked out about some of the things we were doing on the record. For instance, on one of the songs called 'Special,' I took a line out of Chrissie Hynde's 'Talk of the Town,' and it was meant as an homage to her, because the song itself is a little Beatlesque and Pretendersy. I just thought it was a nod to her. But our lawyers were like, 'You have to take it out. You're going to get sued. They'll come after you for hundreds of thousands of dollars. It has to come out.' And I was like, 'I'm not, I want it in there!' So I called her up and she took our call immediately and she was like, 'Are you kidding? I want it in there. That's fantastic!' So the next day, we came into the studio and there was this fax from her lying on our desks, and it said, 'I, Chrissie Hynde, do hereby allow Garbage, the rock band, to sample any of my sounds, my voice, or indeed my very ***.' And it was so cool. She never asked for any money. She didn't ask for any credit. Nothing. She just sent us this great fax."
