Christian Dior 'Gris Dior' Fragrance 2023 by Mikael Jansson

Do NOT want ! And massive shame for Orelsan forgetting his own lyrics.

Doesn't really scream Dior to me to be honest, but I don't mind the "talents" chosen for this even though I don't know all of them. The bottle however looks a bit like a fancy soap or washing liquid to me so it doesn't really sell perfume in my opinion. It also looks photoshopped to the max on most of the pictures.

Also gris means pig in Danish and Norwegian (maybe Swedish too), was surprised when I read the title and expected Jennifer Coolidge on a vespa.

I’m confused by this strategy already seen at Celine of marketing in an agressive way a niche fragrance…
They are already pushing Miss Dior and Sauvage to the extreme. They have a lot flagship fragrances to sell and while Niche is doing well and particularly Bois d’Argent, what’s the point of pushing this…

‘I find it tacky.

Some of these people are seriously sooo pointless and only cheapen what's already looking like a Clinique Toner.. that Fai guy's "career" is literally being an instagram prop: he travels around tagging along any instagirl who is as surgically modified as he is, single but in desperate need to not look single [hence the need for Fai's services], and with over one million followers on instagram, and his sole job is to just stand there, in the backdrop of a thirst trap, as a male companion/escort/presence. Not the worst job but not exactly someone who could sell exclusivity manifested through smell.. he's as exclusive as public transportation.

The rest have TBD careers.

Everything about this, from the art direction, the freaking bottle, to the 'models', looks like it was all brainstormed in less than a day..

This feels really pointless.

And gris has so many other meanings. Even to me I can't help but associate it with the word gristle, meat in general and ambergris...

Didnt evem realize that this is a fragrance ad thought it was some cleanser or toner. The photos dont help either, Jenna alone in a more interesting concept would have been good.

Horrible name for a perfume.

Well, gris has one meaning in French. In French, gris dior sounds good. Not everything has to be English

The bottle really does look like a toner lol.

Jenna Ortega is clearly the star of the show here. It should've just been her, she's big enough for her own campaign.

They should've just booked Jenna, who looks gorgeous and is relevant.

I agree. I don’t care for Maya. She’s so bland in photos. Jenna has an interesting look, she almost resembles Freja a little bit. Out of all the shots hers is the most interesting.

Horrible name for a perfume.
I actually think it’s great. I guess people will call it « Le Gris de Dior ». Grey is one important color for Dior so it makes sense…

Brands want the sweet revenue stream that comes with being able to manufacture 'the new BR540' where hype compels people to get hold of a high-priced item.

It took a while, but when people exhausted the churn of selling make-up and skincare to their audiences, they moved on to flogging perfume, which has taken root in a world where expensive designer goods have become middle-class fast fashion, rather than a luxury experience meant to last.

So now we have a market where paying £245 for a bottle of 'niche' branded product is normalised.

Yet the reality remains that perfume is a subjective and - aside from the bottle itself - a largely invisible experience. So how do you sell what's mostly invisible? Think back to all those wonderful adverts directed by people like Ridley Scott, mini-movies designed to convey the essence of the scent, not to mention all the legendary print ads for perfume that we've seen down through the decades.

And what do we get in 2023? Minimal effort. That'll be £245 please.

So we’ve arrived at the point where niche lines are now marketed aggressively. I thought the point of these things was to produce something more personal and private. I fear that normalizing this and making it mainstream will give brands like Dior excuse to do much more exclusive, higher price points products.

I miss it when Bois d’Argent was a bit more special and the privee line felt more curated.

They xhanged bois d argent. I cant even discuss it. That fragrance was THE fragrance of my early 20s. then they copied some of the notes for dior homme and that givenchy mens cologne in the blue bottle (?). Totally ruining the exclusivity.

gris dior sounds bad for english people who will say Grease not Ghree
