Christian Dior Pre-Fall 2005 Collection

I totally second you, Kimkhuu... :innocent:

I just can´t see why people are blaming people like Olivier Theyskens at Rochas for being *too* consistant every season when I see John Galliano putting up the same blazer, the one he already pushed to the max for S/S 2005 in every fabric imaginable (see "dior jacket" on dior.com), updated with some silly heart-shaped pockets... how very tardy is that? Galliano is suddenly trying to dig the same path like Chloé in terms of design, but Phoebe is doing by far better than him, at least that´s my opinion.

I think Dior Femme is just one of the most old-fashioned, tardy brands I can imagine of late... the embroidery works I see here are ordinary, the shoes and bags are horrible ever since I can imagine seeing the saddle for the first time...

BTW... am I the only one that sees the vintage treatment on those jeans as a cheap one? Looks totally high street from what I can see...

In all fairness though, it's only been two seasons that he's used that jacket at Dior...it's not like he's been doing it season after season.

I probably see it like this because it´s been advertised so much, I mean, every Dior boutique has done the same window with it, it´s on eluxury (which is of course LVMH owned), you have it on the ADs, it has it´s own online presence... I´d probably see it in a different way if they didn´t try to push the hype around it so badly... it almost hurts the way they do it at Dior.

Which is understandable...it's easy to get sick of seeing something so much, even if it's in a short period of time.

The shape of the jacket isn´t bad in my opinion - it´s a bit like what he did in the late 80ies/early 90ies, but it looks so busy with all that denim/embroidery/military patches/whatever he´s going to update it with... why didn´t they just make it in a simple shape - like plain black or with pinstripes? it´s already OK from the cut...

I agree. That jacket is absolutely gorgeous (YSL did one very similar a long time ago) I love everything about it, including the New Look waist on it, but I think it should be put in more simple fabrics. That jacket in bordeaux leather is heaven, gorgeous. Galliano isn't stupid (at least his design team isnt), he knows that he needs to calm down his material choices. He just wants to provoke people's reactions, though I dont think he wanted negative reactions...

I love the houndstooth jacket, just those hearts are atrocious, I think they're very tacky. A heart in general is very tacky.

I totally agree about the hearts.

I sorta feel like John doesn't even have much to do with this. This is all made to SELL!!! The Dalmation fur looks look like something from a middle american shopping mall! These clothes aren't well designed or even well styled for that matter but I am sure they are nice. I just feel like this same look could be had from a trip to Nordtrom and Banana Republic.

he's more responsible for the actual fall-winter collection, which will be in stores soon :woot:

there's going to be a gorgeous version of it in simple, solid black cotton ... with a belt around the waist...and a semi-bubble hem...

Now that's what Im talking about. Gorgeous.

Now that I think about it, Galliano probably didn't design this collection. He's much too busy working on the HC collection, HC week is a little over a month away, a month is nothing when talking about the hours required to make HC.

i'm thinking the same thing. it's probably done by the dior design assistants, loosely based upon some of his designs shown on the fall runway... i've noticed some similarities there...

I'm loving these clothes, its so late summer, early fall...i like the take on the denim mini. the clothes looks so beautiful and streamlined

The Dior Jacket is great, the shape is so flattering and structured. All the logos and "tacky" part of Dior is to sell to middle America and the sort...

I agree about it possibly being not from John at all. Haute couture preparing is indeed a busy time for a designer and as I expect it to be great, I expect him to be very busy and thus not having time for pre-fall stuff.
And that jacket brian posted is very gorgeous, so simple looking but still fantastic!
