Christian Lacroix "Absynthe" Fragrance : Romulo Pires & Vlada by Solve Sundsbo

love vlada, love lacroix

but do not love this as other people said it looks cheap (it probably is too)

It's gorgeous. How could it not be with Vlada as the green absinthe fairy....

Like the dress and everything but I think other model would pull it off better.

Basically I like everything about this ad:D exactly what a fragrance should be likeB) Dress turning to liquid is impressive.B)

I like it but this Romulo guy is completely off with her. He's far too much of a manly man, that tall dark and handsome aspect. They should've picked someone more delicate like her.

Very nice. Vlada looks really good.

why? i think tall, dark and handsome men attract much more women than delicate boys. and this is supposed to entice women into putting themselves into the female model's position. i doubt most women (marketingwise) want to throw themselves into the arms of a prepubescent boy...

What is absynthe?

I read that it's an alcoholic beverage. Does it have any connotations?

It is an alcohol beverage.......and it's bloody strong too.
It is also green, like in the ad.:D

I'm not saying it should be a little kiddy looking boy but someone that aesthetically would have more chemistry with her. This guy looked just way too manly for her, that's the only way I can say it. Someone like Gisele would have more chemistry with him not a little elfin baby doll girl like Vlada that barely passes for 16.

Ya absinthe is quite the famous alcohol beverage.
But i too was wondering about that.

For eg. Opium for YSL, does this have any meanings too it?

or do designers like to pick such names out for the sake of controversy?

Opium has Eastern connotations - China's Opium Wars with the West.

It's suppose to come off as exotic, sensual, Eastern, smoke-filled dens, decadent, etc.

I'm wondering what Absynthe brings to mind.

^
should go along the line of
mystery, fantasy, dreamy
(the supposively green vision)

there are many paintings and pop influence surrounding it.
For eg. the absinthe drinker by Viktor Oliva.
