TOPSHOP'S TOP BOY

HIS neon stretched elastic mini-dresses trimmed with frothy confections of lace and dashes of Swarovski crystals may sell for £1000-a-pop in Browns, but never let it be said that Christopher Kane has gone all grand on us. As part of his sponsorship deal with New Generation, the initiative backed by Topshop, fashion's newest star has designed a capsule collection for the high street store. We've seen it, and it's worth setting out your sleeping bag for: his signature style has been adapted into easy, breezy and oh-so-sexy pleated chiffon dresses, in delicate tea, blush and grey shades, with neon zips. The collection will be in stores from February 9, launching just before London Fashion Week (perfect timing for those fashion party dress decisions), and will be priced from around £110. "Topshop is an institution," says the 24-year-old designer, who debuted on the London Fashion Week schedule last season. "To have the opportunity to produce a collection for it is an honour. Fashion is becoming more and more demographic and this will make my clothes more accessible." And the money you save buying the Topshop version of Christopher Kane could be put towards a very good cause: Kane reveals that the Godfather of Sole, Manolo Blahnik, has been enlisted to create the shoes for his forthcoming autumn/winter 2007-8 collection.
It has to be said that I will be there for sure....

Yes and it's moments like these that I swear about not living in the UK. Will be interesting to see what he producess nonetheless.

ohnoooo, why don't I know someone in UK that can bring a couple of dresses home to me.

How exciting!

I am so excited by this collaboration! (might sound a little sad). IMHO By far the most promising and hopeful high street collab to have ever been forged - Although at +£110, the dresses were obvious not designed for student living budgets!

Although nevertheless, expect me there in front of the oxford circus branch queuing with my below-zero hyper-thermal sleeping bag too!

:woot:

Yes, I would too if I needed another reason...

His clothes aren't very much my style, and not something I'd save hundreds upon hundreds for, but I wouldn't have minded nabbing a few lesser-priced pieces to round out the ol' wardrobe...

Phantastic!

Here's hoping us males get in on the action sometime..

Excited !

But I don't understand this was in the Vogue catwalk thing , no one picked up on it earlier ?

Ah well we have Marios Scwab , Richard Nicholl , more Zandra Rhodes , Sophia Kokosalaki and Jonathon Saunders from Topshop in 07.

eek, Susie, I will try and be there on the 9th if I can scrimp together enough cash, which is running low after Christmas as it is every other day ...*sigh* -_- Although I will have nothing nearly as clever or appropriate to wear as your "Cum again Christopher Kane" t-shirt..!

But that aside, ApertureRomance is right, in the SS07 catwalk guide that came with Vogue UK Feb, on one of the last few pages, it mentions the upcoming designer collaborations with Topshop for 2007, including the Christopher Kane collection, with a much welcomed picture

Scanned by me

The dress is a nice adaptation of his SS07 collection for everyday wear, of a moderate length and less of the runway theatrics (not that I would have minded seeing more exaggerated needlework :innocent: ). On a tall person, I would imagine this to look dazzling, but on a smaller person such as myself, I'm scared that it will be too long, frumpy and overwhelming. Just have to check it out in person. Can't wait to see the other designs!

I totally did not read that catwalk thingy..... ok my bad!
I do love the contrast though between that dusty colour and the neon..... me like a lot! I'm not so worried about the frump thing - I'm Miss Frump incarnated for gods sake!

I'm not getting the frump part...it looks undeniably feminine to me...

The cut and the colour...

^I think Hye meant it's hard to tell what length it is and if you are on the short side, it might swamp you a little....

I like the idea of mixing these quite pale (blushes grey) colors with the neon. that is very fresh to me. I also kind of like the frumpiness. neon frump. that said i leave london on the 2nd so alas. Will this be online? Maybe i will order it and send it to my home here and pick it up next time i'm in or get a flatmate to mail it to me. Anyway it's not something i would stay up the night for. i imagine the fit will be terrible.

I hope Kane does as he has done and fits them well, almost second-skin.
