Christopher Kane's Crisis

this has to be a publicity stunt. if the theives knew the security codes and kane's camp has YET to mention it most likely was an inside job, the writing is on the wall, it seems.

this set-up seems to fit his personality as well...he's a bit of a drama queen.

i am still totally convinced it is NOT a PR stunt.
its simple really. many of the kids who work for designers such as Kane are very "normal" people who often cant even afford one of his dresses unless its a gift.
it just needs one bad guy to work for you to result in something this horrid.
ive heard this many times with other people and in almost all cases it just happened to be one of the employees (could be anyone who knows the code really)

the guy IS the most talked about designer for a couple seasons now and IMO as a LFW regular he still is along with Giles and Marios Schwab, etc so i highly doubt he would need that kind of publicity

I find it amusing that some of you believe this is an inside job, because it certainly doesn't seem like one in the least.

If this is a publicity stunt then it's rather pathetic and I hope for his sake the truth never comes out.

But I agree with the idea that is was likely someone they knew. Espionage, sabotage, infiltration, and betrayal, concepts even fashion is exempted from.

Mr Kane is on top of the world fashion wise. He would not need to pull a stunt like this. But along the same lines of what sayan said many more people now know who Kane is.

i don;t know what i think...but it's all really crazy...

I really do not belive this was a PR stunt, just from everything i read and heard about him,he seems like a guy who is not that desperate, but of course i cant be certain.

In any case what a nightmare for him,and how awful that someone would do this.Hopefully he will be able to recreate everything in time. :(

I find quite funny how high speed our world has become.. the expression "top of the world fashion wise" IMO is a little bit early to be expressed, we all agree the guy has talent, but is still a novice with just 2 collections on his back (one sort of based in ice skaters silhouette , catering for just one type of women, as i can't imagine a size 14 wearing any of those, and other got a little bit better, easier and more expansive in terms of shapes materials and ideas) .. I'm italian living in London, and what's happening here different than the any other fashion capital is that the "new" sometime has so much hype that becomes suffocatingly boring to deal with.... Kane just left the school and needs space to build his own identity and business, learn how to have feasible concepts that will be understood and desired internationally, at the moment the guy just sells in less then a handful of shops - its a long way to go.

Seems very innocent to me when I hear things like this. Lets wait until Vogue Italia gives to him a whole issue dedicated to his work ( as they already have done for Lagerfeld, Galliano, Valentino in the past ... ) Or even Anna Wintour invites him to design her Metropolitan Gala gown .. it will take more time than we think .. believe me.

Alice Temperley & Antonio Berardi coincidentally had their collections stolen day before the show as well some seasons ago... Marc Jacobs long time ago was far more sincere saying to the press that some fabrics hasn't arrived from Italy and some showpieces he would like to present would be avoided because of the delay.

Fashion is very fast pace sort of business lets see how fast is Kane .

my friend shared the news with me yesterday. I was really taken aback. I think he's incredibly lucky they didn't steal the patterns; that just the samples went missing.

I hope his biggest fan, Hilary Alexander, will enlist the help of London's every single cutter, sample sewer, intern, and pr company she can.^_^

I hear you esquire. You are right. Time will tell. What I mean is that he has such rave reviews that at this point he does not need a publicity stunt to provide him with the attention he is getting.

This kinda sad. Even though his clothes are ugly, I still kinda feel for him. But who would be so desperate as to steal his clothes? Christopher Kane?!?!?! :blink:Still, I hope he can get the peices back or make them again in time.:flower:

this is such a bs publicity stunt. who would steal his ugly sh*t?

leyla you said exactly what i was thinking as i was skimming this silly theory everybody came up with. why on earth would he need to do that? as the article suggests and obvious to his success,he is one of the darlings of the fashion world at the moment so he's got all the press he could possibly dream about already. and i would highly doubt somebody at that level would actually sabotage one's own works in such a way....pretty ridiculous. though,i would not throw out the possibility of an inside job....perhaps it is indeed one of his assistants.

but it's terrible for him. as if a designer's stress level isn't extraordinary as it is coming up with collections in six months year round. and to have that happen to him with the catwalks only days away....i can only imagine how he feels. but it's nice,at the least,to hear he's keeping his dignity in check.

As esquire pointed out...perhaps his collection just wasn't ready in time.

I'm with the theory that he didn't think the collection was good enough, or maybe not ready in time so now he has an "excuse". If it's for real though that has to be awful, he's lucky it happened when it did and not later.

Ah God, I love Kane... :( I hope that he can find a solution.
I'm hoping that he has all the technical designs right now. :ninja:
