Throwing its hat into the bespoke men's clothing ring, Cloak is creating an even savvier alternative to the "made-to-measure" madness sweeping men's clothiers. Offering shirts, suits, and overcoats, Cloak brings an
intimate dialogue to the tailoring experience over a series of fittings with tailor Alexendre Plokhov. This exacting process creates inimitable results and also allows the lucky patron to enter a realm previously only inhabited by brides-to-be and debutantes. The prices are prohibitive (suits start at $3,500, a suite of three shirts from $1,100, and an overcoat begins at $2,700) but rest assured, the results are exquisite. From the raw muslin used to craft a shirt to the pick-stich of the suit's lapels and hand-finished buttonholes, no detail is overlooked. It goes without saying that no self respecting man-about-town will dare be seen in off-the-rack now that Cloak Bespoke is up for grabs.
Cloak is located at 10 Greene Street, 917-661-1216.

I would say... damn, I shouldn't say anything. I love their clothes, I have a ton of their stuff, I still buy it, but... I'm sure other people will have great experiences and mine was just an anomaly. That's pretty diplomatic, isn't it?

I'm sorry, but I've been a bit out of the loop...kLm, sorry for being nosy but just wondering did you have a bad experience with Cloak bespoke?

the pictures seem nice from what i've seen of it...but i think i'd still go with Spencer Hart if I was goin the bespoke route...

Pictures? You've seen pictures? If you can, can you post them here?

Thanks-me.

It was in a magazine...I think it was Vitals man, there were some close up shots of the shirting which is all I remember. Sorry no pics available on my hard drive.

No pics, no prob...
Hopefully the tailors will know how to sew on buttons properly.. :innocent:

I'm trying to say this in a way that isn't badmouthing them... They made a suit for my wedding but something went very wrong between giving the pattern to the tailor and getting the suit back from him. They did OK by me in the end, but it was extremely stressful. Under normal circumstances, whatever, you get it fixed... but my wedding was in a week. Up until the end it was an interesting and pleasant process. I should note that I do not have a bespoke Cloak suit, that was not the outcome.

I should also note that I think Alexandre makes the most interesting made-to-measure suits out there right now, and that I would have loved the suit if it had come out correctly. I didn't want a suit from anyone else but Cloak.

kLm - sorry to hear about your stressful experience with Cloak. I am quite interested what they can do with a bespoke suit. What do you suggest if someone is going to get a bespoke from them but not going through all these troubles that you have had with them? How much time would you give them in order to get it right?

TrophyBrown I have found a magazine scan of the article where they mention Cloak Bespoke and have a pic of a suit as well as a detailed shirting pic. This is from the Bespoke/Savile Row thread in Shopaholics, here is the link to the exact post (I also make a correction - this article was in Men's Vogue, not Vitals:(
