did anybody catch fever ray? they have a couple videos up on youtube featuring her appearance....very good!

people were talking about how it didn't meld with the desert surroundings but i actually think that kind of environment helps those songs too. just that sort of claustrophobic,desolate,isolated feel of those songs. and she looked fantastic too...like some kind of tribal queen with mystic powers.

nicolasa,the whole thing just has a very david lynch feel and i don't understand why anybody thought it was a strange pairing just because her music is dark. i mean haven't any of them seen 'lost highway'?

as for the performance.....wow.....just wow. the hairs stood on the back of my neck. superb.

Yes, besides I think the most common and innocent environments can become more mysterious and disturbing than the obviously dark...

^exactly. and as if palm trees makes one think of jay-z either. at least with karin/fever ray she built up a proper atmosphere for her narrative.

btw,i really hope that the response will inspire her to make another album as fever ray soon. in everything she's done-the album,covers and performances,it's been extraordinary on so many levels. i put it up there with radiohead and portishead kind of quality.

^that's like when jay-z got top billing at glastonbury i think at glastonbury....it just didn't seem to fit in with the spirit somehow. in fact i believe a lot of people were appalled by his presence and especially how he got top billing over british bands. but usually these festivals especially glastonbury and coachella are sort of about indie spirit not some powerful rapper mogul and his equally wealthy pop-star wife. it's just odd. but i suppose they wanted to cater to all of the overrated celebs in attendance and allow all of the true coachella fans a chance to see the indies??

coachella though has had some dodgy recent history though....remember when portishead's set got cut short all because prince was there? they were to perform some other tunes from third and they were forced to cut them. it was really awful.
