another good collection. i enjoyed her spring 2002 more than this one but you still can't help but to admire how original yet consistent her work is.

i'm iffy about the writing though...

i really think that fashion should stick its nose out of politics.
it is not an industry of geopolitics.... but one that exists off of it.

that being said, after seeing a bunch of shos similar to this one... this whole line makes me angry and bored.

first, can anyone ever get the plaid tartan right? a little goes a LONGGGG way. this reinvigoration of the "punk" or unconventional attitude does NOT equal the polarity of ideas surrounding what is happening in the middle east. Is that what Comme des Garcons is trying to do? Just add some more eyeliner and we have a protest???

second, what is with all of the "war" fatigue clothes? and the sudden influence of the beouin look and the middle east is bothersome and tired. it is as if they through dog tags around the models' necks. is there some point that i am missing? fashion statements about politics are futile. all anyone really cares about is if the clothes sell or not [hence look at all of the gossip on these pages about desingers getting "sacked"]. not if a model cares about peace for the people that have "less" than he/she.

third, what is with these anti- war statements statements that all of the fashion labels are making right now with their lines... they are just commercializing off the regions and the problems surrounding them. doesn't anyone get that peace is just as messed up as war?

Loved it, loved it, loved it. I think Rei Kawakubo is a genius. She's always original and refreshing for me. I loved the intricate details and the tailoring that goes into every one of her pieces. They are little works of art. I loved how heavy the fabrics and the shoes were. Very fall and appropriate, IMO.
