Comme des Garcons and Cutler and Gross

THe hintmag articles refers to the "high camp" spring summer collection from CDG HP.

 Whatever. I don't think Rei has every made a "queen" collection, and I doubt she ever will.

I don't think camp reffers specificlly to homosexuals. And I certinly don't think this is that kind of collection, that is galliano homme.

I like the collection alot, i think it's intresting to see pink and bright coloures on men, I think she does every thing intellegantly even kitch.

liberace was 'camp'...
i think liberace would have liked the collection...no?...

:o So you think it is high camp?

yes...i guess i do...with all that judy blame jwlry...what straight man would wear any of that..unless he were having a laugh?...it's very 'limp-wristed'...

it's very camp...i think it's fun...and i think camp is fun...silly...but fun!!

i like the shape and the clear frame, its just weird to have those on pink lenses.. but a light grey..hmmm i'd love them with light grey lenses

as for being 'camp' no.. not in my book, more like 'eccentric' than 'camp' i actually find the shape of those glasses very classic masculine/nerd/preppy to me

what?...you don't think liberace would like the rose coloured glasses??... :innocent:

Spose I don't really look at the jewelery, but you're right about no straight man wearing that. I kind of look past it I guess since it just seems like a styling tool to me. I don't really see the rest of the collection as being camp just because it has some pink in it. Camp to me would be the Gucci robes....or Gaultier sailor tops.... there would need to be some kind of (homo)sexual undercurrent of some kind, playful or otherwise. I don't think there is with comme...but, maybe I'm being defensive! hehe.

:D no, i think he would go for something MUCH more flashy, with pinker lenses and maybe tiger shaped strass studded frames, this would be far too 'quiet' for Libe :D

i don't think they meant the glasses alone were camp lena...the article refers to the show and collection i believe...

and it's like a camp version of peter sellers...
rei basically SAID that....i'm not making it up...if you go back and look...

so yes lena...the glasses are definitely a 'nerd-y' masculine look...a la the blk horn-rimmed frames that peter sellers wore in the 60's...but the 'camp' part is that they are PINK...LOL...

johnny..have you been wearing rose-coloured glasses while viewing the collection???

This is a similar point to something that I was going to say. The thing about comme is that all of the shapes usued are very traditional, and there's very little change to that from one season to the next. All of the t shirts are the same shape and cut and have been for years. They will use the same shirt shape, same trouser shape, same zip up top etc throughout all of their collections, and change the fabrics and patterns etc. The only embellishment (other than the daft styling tools like Judy Blame and Star Wars helmets) is in those things. I actually think that this is something that keeps comme fundamentally masculine, despite the "eccentricty", as Lena put is very well, of some of what is turned out.

come on softgrey, i didnt say you 'made it up' and i dont care about the article or what Rei said.. those shades are not 'camp' in my book, thats all :)

rei is just playing with ideas I think..... like she always does. I actually don't think the clothes are , in themselves, camp but I think that there is a tongue in cheek laugh at 'campness' in general because of the styling etc.

ot: I adore the pink panther theme tune. I wonder if I can get it on itunes.

Sorry... I was just about to do a full scale description of Andrew McKenzie and Cavalli (to take up on that extreme camp/extreme hetero point that Helena made), but maybe later...

later, and off the forums, please

Whoah, NHS stylings in hippy shades. Bent as a nine bob note...in a very kitsch way.

;)

i thought you did not understand that we were not discussing whether the glasses were camp or not...but rather the overall styling of the show and collection...and i was just trying to point that out so that you could join in the discussion...

i'm sorry..i didn't realize that you were making a separate...un-related statement...

but what do you mean you don't care about the article or what the designer says...i thought that's the whole topic?...

:p
