It might seem as if models live a glamorous, out-of-touch-with-reality kind of life, but that's not the case for Cory Bond. Yes, he's been on billboards in Times Square. And yes, he's married to megababe model Bekah Jenkins. But he swore to us he's still just a Tennessee boy at heart.

How were you discovered? [Model scouting company] ProScout came to Nashville. They thought I had a great look and invited me to their main scouting event in Atlanta. Luckily, I received a few callbacks.

Your first modeling gig: I landed a swimsuit photo shoot for OUT Magazine shot by Michael Stratton.

Career highlight: I'd say that landing the Michael Kors underwear ad and getting a wrap-around billboard in Times Square was the single best ad that I've done.

Career lowlight: I think the most challenging part is being alone a lot and away from your family. It's more difficult than you'd think. You get to see so many beautiful things, but most of the time you don't get to share that with the people you love.

Tell us about the house you keep in Tennessee. It's on 48 acres of land that's mostly woods. It was designed by my wife Bekah and built by my brother's construction company, and that makes it special to me. It's great to be able to leave the hustle of the city behind for a while and relax there. It's important to remember where your roots are and to not try to be someone that you're not. I'm a kid that loves nature so I can't stay in the city all year long. I go crazy! When I'm in New York all I hear is noise. I have to have a break.

What kinds of things do you like to do when you're down South? That depends on the season. I have two horses that we ride and are cared for when I travel. In the spring, summer, and fall we have three lakes close by and they stay warm enough to enjoy most of the year. The nightlife in Nashville is a lot of fun, too. My friends Max Goldberg and his brother Ben own and operate some of the coolest bars and restaurants in Nashville. Pinewood Social is their newest place, it has great food and a vintage bowling alley. And I love Robert's, this honky-tonk bar right downtown with a lively band every night.

How has coming from the South influenced you as a model? Being from the South I think has made me more of an easygoing person. As a model you've got to have a lot of patience. Success in this business rarely comes overnight, even if it appears that way.

You're married to Bekah Jenkins, who's also a model. What are some of the challenges of a "model marriage?"The challenge is to maintain an identity that's still your own, but the benefit is that there are people who want to shoot us together as a couple, and we love to work together. It's amazing to have this catalog of images together from over the years. We have a great unpublished print from Bruce Weber in our bathroom near the tub.

You're pretty big on social media, especially on Instagram. I'm in love with Instagram. There, I said it. What an amazing way to share your life with people who can choose to follow you and are interested in the things that you can show them. And you can choose to follow some of your favorite people and see what they really do from day to day. I love the fact that my mom's mother, Me-Maw Agnes, can see things that she wouldn't otherwise see and experience them with me.

How do you stay in shape? I love cycling, yoga, Pilates, and running. I don't lift a lot of weights anymore because it's stressful on the joints and you don't need to be big to be powerful. I workout four to five days a week for an hour, but your diet is the most important part of any workout regimen.

What's your grooming routine? I use my Clarisonic with the spinning brush morning and night for clean skin. You can even use it in the shower, so it's quick.

If you could change one thing about your body, it would be: To be an inch taller. The female models that I have to work with ear five-inch heels, so sometimes I'm standing on an apple box! I need to work more with a Kate Moss than a Karlie Kloss-type, just saying.

Best piece of advice you've ever been given: Once, when I was a very lazy teenager, my dad said, "Get outside and do something with your life. What are you going to do, get by on your good looks?" So I took that advice and I ran with it. Thanks, dad!
