Costello Tagliapietra premiered its line in New York for the spring 2005 collections. The label won rave reviews all-round and they won the 2005 Ecco Domani Fashion Foundation Award for the ensuing fall collection. The designs also made the cut for an exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute, showcasing military-inspired fashion.

The Look
Beautifully tailored dresses, constructed jackets, and coats in muted tones, plus an attention to detail both inside and out, with a focus on the draping of fabric that’s finished with bound edges and French seams.

The Designer
Jeffrey Costello started by designing clothing for actresses and musicians, then met up with partner, native New Yorker, and Parsons alum, Robert Tagliapietra; together they founded Costello Tagliapietra. Both were taught the art of tailoring by their grandmothers, who, coincidentally, had both worked for Norman Norell in the 1960s.

Lovely but nowhere near as stellar as the debut collection. I do love the easy shapes presented here, though.

Vauuu this is stunning, chic withou thte usual boring aspects.I adore this dress:

I'm really enjoying the use of roomy, breathable materials this season. The light, romantic shades here are equally worth raving about, especially in the first two pieces.

I love the way those materials look while walking. It's a beautiful collection, I love twenties  I agree that the hair is too much. While it's a modern version of twenties, I think that straight hair would look better. I like when history meets modernity, this show is such a great example of that

The coloring is perfect (just perhaps not for SS) and the curls are what give it a look.
Straight hair is so yesteryear anyway.
The draping is great but for all the talk of tailoring---there is none to be seen!
It's the shoes that are really too retro, they should have more edge to balance it all.

Maybe I'm just not getting it, but the only thing about this collection I'm for are the colors.

i wish i could see the back of the dresses.

some of the dresses i absolutely adore, and then others i'm just not that into (for example that grey dress w/ the yellow ribbons on the side. perhaps if it was fitted more). i always liked their stuff, but not as impressed as past collections, but still pretty good. thanks for the pics.
