Courrèges F/W 2021.22 Paris

For a debut collection this is quite wonderful, in a season devoid of fluidity and beauty and very heavy and dowdy clothes , this is a breath of fresh air. Sleek and modern.

This is just all archives with logo pieces. It's very cute but very clearly from the 1960s. The choice of leather is very 60s too - that non-quite patent leather.

Someone had to do an archival 60s brand. I can't see anyone really walking about in head to toe this look because it is too literal.
This is in no way looks literal 60s, my cousins grew up in that time , nobody dressed like this then save for very avante garde models and fashionistas who were into Courreges and Pierre Cardin who were seen as futuristic designers. If anything its more closer late 90s/early 2000s minimalism. I would say NG in his early collections for LV, had clothing very similar to what was worn 1968-1971.

After the fail that was Courreges previous creative director, this direction back towards something the Coperni guys could have just as well come up with feels like exactly the place where Courreges should be in 2021 - If given enough time to ripen, I could see myself liking this better than Julien Dossena's Paco Rabanne in the future. I keep wondering though why the Coperni guys were let go off when their vision did not stray too far from this and it was generating a momentum then - Their Courreges showed promise and the fact that we are back at this point to approve a relatively basic show speaks volumes to the damage this brand has taken in the past years from all the poor business decisions that were taken before.
