D La Repubblica Fashion Issue Volume #1 Spring 2025 by Sharna Osborne

^ Definitely see it. Whilst I'm not a fan of Osborne's lo-fi photography, I trust Guido to conceive a good project together with Jacob and Piergiorgio who save their best efforts for D.

I just hope this season's issues are at least at the level of S/S 24 because all in all the issues last season didn't land that well.

On another note Rosalieke really owes Meisel...goes to show that even without VI he's still giving girls their big break and allowing them to hit the mainstream.

I love the 80's references and model casting. These could have all been stunning covers. However, the blurry photography style is horrible. It will look even worse on paper. That said, Ida's cover is my favorite from the set.

Last cover is Penelope. Unfortunately this one looks quite dated to me and a bit too Cilla Black for comfort.

Overall I'd say Rosalieke, Mathilde and Malika have the best covers on initial view. Libby's is also strong but she looks very androgynous, which is fine, but is throwing me off a bit. Ida's styling looks very music video-y which may work better in the editorial.

I quite like some of the pictures and I've always been fond of Guido and his work. Also as an eternal child of the 80's, it brings back memories of things I actually lived personally (unkike some people who seem nostalgic of years they haven't known). But yes, I agree with those here getting tired of nostalgia or vintage feeling... Why not vintage, but it's often the same vintage, sometimes stepping on cliché territories with the aim to appeal to the broadest audience. So, I don't really want to complain 'cause visually, it's pretty pleasing to some point, but unlike what some grumpy minds wanna think, there are still things happening out here, there is still creativity. Maybe not on Instagram but it's not so much of an effort to turn off the screen for a few minutes and jump off the beaten tracks and open your eyes. Again, I'm not just targetting these covers in particular, just getting that feeling too often, like in one hand you have those who are angry and bored at everything and on the other side of the spectrum those who seem too lazy to think beyond "revisiting some past".

I love it and ironically it is refreshing to bring back the 80s in this so present quiet luxury/good taste imagery we have currently. As long as the fashion is strong, I am more than happy.

Shana Osborne is really a "love it or hate it" type of photographer so I understand some of you who are not into her but I love her (her work for Harper's Bazaar US and Self Service!!)
