Daniele Carlotta S/S 2014 Milan

Palermo’s Casina Cinese, a Chinese-style palace in Sicily built by architect Giuseppe Venanzio Marvuglia for the Bourbon family at the end of 18th century, served as the main reference for Daniele Carlotta.

In particular, he focused on the contrast between the structure’s geometric frescos and the iconic Baroque architecture of the area in which it resides. This translated into an opulent lineup of elegant pieces that combined structure and fluidity.

Case in point: A long silk satin skirt with a graphic pattern was matched to a delicate georgette blouse with a bow at the neck.

For grand evenings, the designer offered a brocade gown with a deep V-neck and pockets, as well as a one-shoulder style in pale blue silk chiffon, its waist cinched with a satin sash embroidered with a miniature Chinese landscape.
