Daphne Groeneveld

To be quite honest i don't really like any of her latest work.
Not really to do with Daphne self, but more because of the styling.

I saw a comment in Vogue Netherlands about putting teenagers in to sexy or grown woman clothes, but this is exactly how I feel about her latest work, I think picture 8 is really wrong.

Daphne got some great expressions though.

I think a lot of the negative comments in regards to her most recent work should be geared towards the styling, makeup, etc. instead of Daphne as a model (just as you suggested, Forrest).

The Vogue Korea cover would have been much better if the background wasn't white, and that's clear in the editorial. The plain background makes Daphne's features look so harsh, as does the makeup.

I could certainly see how some people would think that she is being styled too old for her age, but the Vogue Korea editorial seems a lot more modest than the one in Vogue Russia. I don't think Daphne has had the worst of the overly sexual styling, but I do agree that stylists can go a little overboard for a girl her age. However, I'm just happy that she's getting work ^_^

It'll be interesting to see what kind of work is produced once she turns 18.

I don't see what's wrong with that pic number eight. And I'm the first to shout against teenage models being used to model grown up women (a nonsense) but I must say Daphne does it right. And she is what age now, 16 or 17 (no real clue but roughly I think she's there) and how she models and what she embodies is far from a grown up woman. I know I'm a kind of grandfather with a toe in the grave now as I'm almost 30 but granddad has some memories from his high school years and a lot of girls -except geeks and excptions- all wanted to be sexy when they were like... sixteen. Nothing is gross in the picture, nothing goes beyond the "lines". It's a beatiful shot and Daphne is right in her role, never outpassing the borders, same as Wixson. Embodying a somehow sexy teenager but in a way any teenage girl does or try to do. Never like an Aymeline or a Saskia or an Arizona (or a whoever).

It's my personal opinion and i think that photo is to much for my taste. NOT HER FACE, she doesn't oversex it at all.
Vogue Russia was not good with the to heavy make up and styling, letting it look like she earns her money some other way (i don't want to be rude, so i leave it by this, sorry Daphne, i really like you and most of your work). Vogue Korea was a bit better qua styling but not good either (and i liked her face more on vogue russia). I-D was fine, but i prefer her other I-D cover, that one was gorgeous.

And it's mostly because Daphne has a very young look that i don't like the she styled this way, it's not that i think Daphne is wrong or let teeangers close to 18 looking a bit sexy.
I have nothing against most shots in Vogue Netherlands with for example Josefien who is at the same age, but looks more mature Daphne looks like 16 (also in real life, only she is really tall haha but looking young which is in her avantage when she turns like 30 :P).
I also never said it was a gross or disguisting picture (read people!). I just say that i don't like her latest work cause of the styling. I never said Daphne didn't look good at photo's or looking lifeless or something. I think she is one of the better models in giving facial expressions but the styling ruins it for me.

Why does everyone act like teenagers Daphne's age don't try to look sexy or do sexual things in real life?

That's also my thoughts and what I wrote in my previous message in this thread.

After this, I respect everyone's point of view and right to dislike the aesthetics of a picture, the styling of a story etc. But I dislike how sometimes people come with moral issues instead of simply saying it's not in their tastes.

omg that's what certainly not my point  I said that for me the styling ruins it cause imo she can't pull it of.
So @penny609 i dislike the covers cause she can't pull of the heavy make up and i don't like watch a girl with a beautiful but to young face doing sexy things. it just doesn't work for me. And moral things: i do find them for that reason very important cause i watch the cover and make my opinion biased also on my moral standards. I think that's quite normal, that's part of how everyone is raised.
What she does in her own time, that's not my problem.

I dislike why people can't understand that it's just not cup of tea. I never said anything bad about Daphne self.

Others like Zuzanna, Josefien etc or other models at her age (except lindsey maybe) don't have a really young face like daphne has, so i have no problem with it at all if they are looking sexy or something.

but it's a endless discussion. so i quit with this. i close with the fact i love the way if people styled or photograph her they way she is without tons of make up. she is a unique beauty.

I took half of my post or i dunnow edit to late?
ETA:
Her Vogue Paris cover would have been great if she was 18 but a 14 year old putting next to a old man, no i'm not buying that issue. She looked also to old for a 14 years and to sexy.

So it's a combination for me:
1: Age does matter in combination when you looking really young and not 18 yet. After 18 and still looking young is no issue, cause i know her age. Maybe if i didn't it would be different.
2: When you are and under 16 doing sexy stuff.

Others like Zuzanna, Josefien etc or other models at her age (except lindsey maybe) don't have a really young face like daphne has, so i have no problem with it at all (unless when they are not 16 yet) if they are looking sexy or something.

So.. let me have my opinion biased on my morals and I'll let you guy's have your opinion.

There's a difference between a teenager trying to look sexy & doing sexual things in his/her own private life and an underage model being dressed in sexy clothing by adults, photographed in provocative poses by adults and being glamorized by adults.

I don't mean to be a prude, but I really don't like this editorial. The juxtaposition between the childlike face and hair and the overly sexy poses don't mix well. I thought it was a child in the third picture sitting like that.
