Daphne Groeneveld

Any reason why she wasn't in any shows?

She didn't do shows due to personal issues, it's really sad though, it all went downhill from last season and this season she decided to skip show she didn't have to go to a ton of castings just to not get booked

Just look at her recent print bookings and you should see 'not getting booked' is certainly not the reason behind her absence

I don't think it was an issue of not getting booked. Because i can assure you that she 100% would book at least three blue chip shows. I personally think she either had a personal/family matter to attend to, or she was shooting many editorials and campaigns, so she didn't want to exhaust herself by doing fashion month as well.

I think we tend to forget she is very young, maybe it's too stressful for her to multitask everything at this stage but no doubt she has a bright future ahead :flower:

There's a big difference between being in demand on the runway and being in demand for print work though.

Doing runways is very important for young girls like Daphne but she seems already a big model with no runways and many print jobs, so in her case doing runways is important but she can live also without it.

I meant runway wise she isn't doing anything but I'm so glad she booked miu miu resort! Especially with all of those top models, and her print bookings have been incredible, but when have they not? She was booking top shows and doing amazing print work just two seasons ago, it's all very puzzling.

I completely agree with Frankie at #808: a model often reflects the creative vision of the photographer. To neglect this would do unjustice to Daphne. She's amazing and one of the great todays' models.

Funnily enough, I am not a fan of her necessarily but her portrait by KARL in the LBJ exhibition and book is one of the fiercest and strongest by far . The composition, the big hair, the fashion, it all works.
From your quote I am not sure if credit should go to the stylist or model or Karl, but let's just say it is great team work!

This is epic!
She looks like a chameleon & if not a new species. 1 of the best covers ever.

^ So...still in almost every editorial her facial expression is the same...so.

But you can almost ask the same thing to every other model in the industry, i've seen her work progress very well, ever since I got her December/January 2011 Issue with Tom Ford. Obviously the photographers are the one's who feel comfortable with her having these expressions. Blame it on the model all you want, it's not up to them to get to choose how they wish to work these days...unless you're Ms. Evangelista.
