Daphne Guinness

She looks impeccable and rich at the Chanel Mobile Art event, and I love her in the video. So cute. ^_^

^^Beautiful, thanks for posting! She looks so nice fresh-faced, even though I love when she has her eyes made up. I wonder what skincare she uses, it has to be only the most luxurious.

My scan from Bazaar ^_^

I regret it now but I didn't take the chance to meet her at the Sunday Times Style lecture in Dublin last Monday. She had finished speaking and went to the bar where anyone could approach and chat to her...I didn't!

She just seemed so uninspiring and frankly, a little dumb, once she had been interviewed. Unfortunately I'm not as enamoured with her as I was previously but my god did she look flawless in a short, ink-black Gareth Pugh number.

Boomer thanks for the scan! :buzz:

^ Dustcakeboy, thanks for the encournter recap! I'm of two minds as to whether she's actually intelligent/inspiring...she does seem very airy fairy and vague sometimes..

but no doubt she is stunning in person

^^ Well, if indeed she is not a Rhodes Scholar, she sure is sexy...! :brows:

*I know, typical guy...*

I would have chatted her up! Rarely would I approach someone of a cult or celebrity status but she would be hard for me to not almost gush over. I'd love to have seen what Gareth Pugh piece she was wearing!

Not seen before from the Chanel Mobile Art party, ^_^

we can finally see the full outfit, and her accessories! the shoes!

also, here is her daughter; Tallulah Ormsby-Gore whom we sometimes hear about, but rarely see.

she is to the right of Fabiola Beracasa in this pic.

As a huge fan I've read several interviews and all of the factual tidbits I could find, and I still cannot determine much about her--there is such limited information. Though I think this is perhaps her most defining moment: "I mean, Izzy – Izzy was great. A proper person. With proper existential angst, and a real artist, too. But it’s true, we did have a very similar outlook on life, and I knew at the end exactly how she felt. We were either terribly excited about something or terribly upset about something, then everything else in between was just sort of beige. Now I’m starving, what should I have to eat? A scone, perhaps? Although I probably shouldn’t, because I’ve just put on half a stone. No, I promise you, I’m 53kg now, although of course there is always the possibility that the scales in my bathroom are wrong." My opinion (or what I want to believe) is that she's an interesting sort of person, but you might step in too late and just catch the part about scones and think she's a little... airy fairy. :p

oh it's not just the scones! :D

in fact, i didn't have any particular article in mind when i made that comment. Like you, i'm a huge fan and have read every interview/article of hers...

my impression is that she is a very interesting and idiosyncratic woman, slightly sad in some ways perhaps due to her "gilded cage" life...

however, many of her allusions to philosophy/art/culture...they seem like someone who has taken a bower-bird like interest in many things, but isn't deeply (or in a grounded sense) truly down with anything.

that's why to me; it seems that fashion for Daphne is a sort of anchor- she can be that airy fairy dreamer but have her focus, and ties to "reality" through expression in clothing. :flower:
