Daphne Guinness

no,no just break out of the life she's been in.I think she'd be a lot happier, and her fashion would be more natural and less contrived. She's a human being, not a freak show or a doll.

is there really a brand daphne, I mean 1 scent and 4 independent films, and supporting fellow creatives, that's not really a brand. zahm runs that magazine on a wing and prayer, all print will be gone in a couple of years
she doesn't go out much unless it is to do with work, Nars etc. and that seems to be work related.
we all have to pay the bills (or maybe not), I don't know but I would say people involved in the arts, and it is very much up for discussion whether fashion is art, have to pay the bills somehow and they tend to hang together and they are a friendly lot . Maybe they are just all freaks. the jury is out in my book. It seems to be less harmful than say, finance....

Blasberg's Best of 2009 (Part 2)

Daphne Guinness and Nadine Johnson

Two of my favorite ladies: the wonderfully quirky lass with the two-tone hair (well, she died it all black in December) who wears Alaia belts and sings me opera; and then the Dutch Momma who likes Marni and Wellington boots and American Spirit cigarettes. Two of the best dates in town, and two ladies who know how to make an interesting exit. As we see here.

2009: The Year in Parties

The Daphne Project
This year's party scene would've been a whole lot less interesting without the couture-loving, electric-blue-contact-lens-wearing, chameleon-coiffed Daphne Guinness. We're looking forward to seeing how she tops this out-of-this-world Alexander McQueen look in 2010.

thanks brids of paradise for the quotes.

still love her although i am so sad to see the two-tone hair go. cant wait to see what 2010 brings

I was watching the Secret World of Haute Couture last night and Daphne of course is featured in it quite a lot. But what I found interesting watching it this time is when she comments that she abhors the celebrity culture in fashion and the moment an actress wears a dress she wants nothing to do with it. She also talked a bit about advertising and such in a way that made her seem above it all...

What a change a couple years make. She herself is now building a brand and using the celebrity culture formula to advertise and market, essentially, herself. The Daphne I saw in that documentary is remarkably different from the one we see now. I feel like its not just her exterior that has changed but her philosophy when it comes to fashion. And selfishly I must admit I really miss the "old" Daphne.

Ahh yes. That moment when she says 'if I see it on a movie star, it's done' with that cut-class accent is the exact moment I feel in love with her.

Though I don't think she would consider the fashion insiders she works with celebrities. I'm sure she see them as artists and herself as their muse.
Even though these days she's selling cars. :innocent:

Just re-watched Secret World of HC and some newer interviews, she seem the same to me, just her "work in-progress" style has deviated from the ultra-chic to more avant garde.

more avant garde.

I have my doubts about that.

She's now just taking the most shocking runway I tems she can find and piling it on together.

It seems quite fashion victim-y to me, rather than having a true avant-garde vision tbh.

^ I agree :flower:. I feel like if anything she is now straying away from the avant-garde look.

hopefully, she will surprise us with a fantastic and fabulous new attire that is drawn from the avant-garde and has that essence of raw and eccentricity that we've known her for. I feel she herself is become 'styled' by these 'artists' around her, and she couldnt care less...thats what disappointing and not making me so drawn to check her thread as much anymore, though I still do of course.
I'd love to see more about her on film that is personal and not directed by some cheezball like LaChapelle.

I'm sorry, I dont recall if this LaChapelle's photo of Daphne was posted--from MAISON CHAPLIN's photostream on flickr.

No, Mc queen from a few years back, I have seen pictures of her wearing that out in the past, a couple of years maybe....I can't remember exactly

just looked at the lindsay Lohan muse pictures again , the outfits don't even resemble that, those are lace stocking bodies that have spaghetti straps, the mc queen all in one is embroided all over, some of the embroidery has gone in parts, needs a bit of fixing i'd say. D wears her things hard and again and again
