BECKHAM NAMED PLAYER OF THE WEEK: On Monday afternoon, Galaxy midfielder David Beckham was named MLS Player of the Week by the North American Soccer Reporters. Beckham had a goal, his first in MLS competition, and an assist in the Galaxy's 2-0 win over the Earthquakes on Thursday night to claim the award. This is the first Player of the Week honor in Major League Soccer for Beckham, and the first for a Galaxy player since Landon Donovan was named Player of the Week during Week 4 of the 2007 MLS season.
BECKHAM STRIKE UP FOR GOAL OF THE WEEK: David Beckham's first half goal against San Jose has been nominated for Sierra Mist MLS Goal of the Week. Fans can vote for Beckham's goal by clicking here. Last year, two Galaxy players won the Sierra Mist Goal of the Week award as both Landon Donovan (Week 4) and Edson Buddle (Week 28) took home the award in 2007.
