How important is it for London to have its own dedicated menswear showcase?
It's hugely important to show that British fashion can compete with the best from Milan, Paris and New York. It's also fully deserved. London and Britain have some of the best fashion creatives in the world, along with some of the best new menswear designers. This is a chance for them all to flourish, and flaunt to the rest of the world what British design and London is really made of.
How does London compare to Milan, Paris and New York?
When it comes to men's fashion I think the heritage in London is unbeatable. Savile Row and London's tailors still are the best in the world and with men's design and style so dependent on the pivotal role that suits and tailoring play to this day, that importance cannot be underestimated.
What was the last stylish thing that you bought?
A Prince of Wales two-piece suit from the
Richard James-designed Savile Row Inspired collection at Marks & Spencer.
What's your style tip for autumn/winter 2012?
I think maybe double-breasted suits will be seen more on the High Street and accepted by the man on the street this winter. Apart from that, as I always say, individuality is important.
Who is your best-dressed British man?
Prince Charles is always impeccably dressed. If anyone is a great advocate for pulling off the double-breasted suit, it is him.
Where's your favourite places in London?
I adore all the small arcades in Mayfair: Burlington, Royal etc. My favourite restaurant is Eight Over Eight, but 34 is very close. Drinking-wise, I don't think you can beat La Bodega Negra at the moment.
