Did Jelly Kellys Ruin Hermes Bags?

I am considering getting a Kelly-inspired bag in black smooth leather, because I'm looking for a classic bag in my price range.

My concern is that the recent Jelly Kelly trend will make this bag look dated instead of timeless. Thoughts?

No. Hermès bags are classics, things like the jellies are just fads. And it's not like someone would confuse a jellie with the real thing...

I agree . . . hermes bags are timeless no matter how many people make bags that are inspired by them--a real bag won't compare to a clear/rubbery imitation

Anyone can tell that Jelly Kelly bags are faddish, I don't think the quality/reputation of Hermes bags are affected.

The jelly kellys did nothing to ruin Hermes reputation. I haven't seen a single jelly kelly in years. They've been over for years.

I don't think Hermes bags will ever look dated. I haven't seen any type of jelly bags for a while, maybe they fell apart after a while...who knows.

Seeing as how they have their wait list closed for at least the next year, they announced recently ... it doesn't seem to be harming their business :D However, Hermes' lawsuit against jelly Kelly may harm the jelly business ;)

I agree with what everyone has said so far - Hermès is timeless. No way some cheap jelly bags will ever take that away ;)

Okay thanks guys, I was concerned it might be similar to how monogrammed bags have been negatively affected by all the fake monogrammed bags everywhere these days, but I guess that's not the case!

I have to Hermés shoulder bags from what they call their "Glove Collection," very soft buttery leather. One black one brounish red. You would not know they were Hermés but that's what I like about them. I have a gucci black bag that has a tiny leather gucci name. The obvious designer bag has a bag watcher guessing whether it's a fake or real.
I love my longchamp backpacks as an exception. They are so simole looking. I hate bags with lots of buckles and hardwear.
