For his third Diesel Black Gold outing, creative director Andreas Melbostad looked to workwear and uniforms for inspiration. A fireman coat was reimagined in denim with metal clasp closures and leather strips in lieu of the traditional reflective safety tape, while plaster dust inspired a white coated finish on painter jeans. Denim continued to be at the core of the collection and here was cut in slim shapes. Soft touches were added via basketweave wool knits and panels of fabric that were used for mixed-media dresses and separates.

I loved Andreas Melbostad (especially during his early years) at Phi and while I acknowledge this to be something that Diesel's target audience can understand and will probably work on commercial terms as accessible, on-trend streetwear, I was expecting something a bit more refined, elevated from the usual Diesel approach in his hands. The excessive amount of denim rivets and buttons make this sadly appear as if it was part of the regular Diesel line while I had hoped he would deliver a bit more polish and refinement. This is all looking a little too 'rugged' in a wrong way to me.
