Dior Gaucho

there's a brown gaucho on ebay: 6844119983
the description says it's slouchy, but it looks pretty stiff compared to the runway pics.

report report: saw the white double, brown single, and red single today. pardon me if i get the styles wrong- haven't been following this thread.

the leather is pretty soft, not as slouchy as ads but i'm sure would get slouchier with use. (but def. not stiff like ebay pics.) it's a little stiffer than the old paddies. about the same stiff as the new paddies. the s.a. described the leather distressing process: take untreated leather, put it through special wash, put black wax on it, then do a final wash.

colors: white is a unimaginably dirty white. looks like it started out off-white and was used hard for 2 years. red is a brownish red, and the brown has a greenish tint. thought the brown looked nicest, and best in gaucho style.

this is a very distressed bag that is very casual. definitely a jeans/shorts kind of bag. :flower:

Thanks for the report, ilovepostino. I'm not sure whether to be distraught or not yet. I was so looking forward to the white and now, it's like a balloon of excitement just burst. Maybe I'll just end up going for another bag instead.... *sigh*

so sorry :( it's entirely possible that it's a perfect distressed bag for you, tho! also the s.a. did mention that each bag looks different b/c of the treatment process. :flower:

thanks so much for the report! Overall, what did you think of the bag? Do you think it would be a good purchase?

I'd like to at least see the bag in person but I'm not sure which color I should go for. I dont like the sound of dirty white, but the brown on eBay looks too much of an green orange y diarea type brown. I t hought it was going to be like an army green.

Guessgirl,
I saw the brown today and fell in love. It's a really nice brown and it suits the style well. I'm a brown lover though. All my bags are brown except my khaki paddington. I didn't get to see the white, but the SA said she prefers the brown. The one I got to hold was sold....I was disappointed, but they're going to try and locate one for me.

i'm warming up to the gaucho bags, even though they're really not my style at all and i'd never, ever, carry one, unless forced to at gunpoint.

the brown i saw was alot more attractive than the brown on ebay. it looked close to the style.com pic-- not quite but almost as green. it was the nicest color! red was nice too.

it's hard for me to answer whether it is a good bag purchase or not b/c i'm in the mood to dress up these days and not so into cowboy look. however, all s/s trends aside, i can see that this bag could be a chic look for running around in jeans or shorts all spring/summer. what i like about the bag the most is that it is kinda jaunty and very nonchalant...

^^ Thanks :) The SA said she'll call me when they get their next shipment, I'll try out the brown. I'm always in jeans so I think it'll match my style. I wish I had somewhere to dress up to, I'd look silly with anything past jeans + a nice top.

Thanks, Ilovepositano! Hopefully, I won't be as mortified as when I got my ivory paddy! :flower: :flower:

Yes, the brown I saw was greenish, too. I was expecting a true brown, but it's really not. It's definitely a jeans bag.

Judging from the pictures I saw, I think the double is definitely the best style. It's functional as there are two pouches where you can put your stuff in and it's very unique. I have not seen the bag in person so I don't know what the exact color is but I think it might be closer to the Balenciaga white? The Balenciaga white from spring 2005 is pretty dirty/distressed white as well...I don't know about this season though...

^If anything, except for the new couture collection(which I still have mixed feeling on), Dior have been gaining glamour over the past couple of seasons. John Galliano's outrageous RTW and hideous accessories were getting old. I am glad to see a bit of toning down...and have you taken a look at the nude collection? It is magnificent, some of the most beautiful women's wear pieces I have seen to date. Leopard bags with blach leather studded straps and pink and white logo shoes...glad they are slowly going away.

Has anyone seen the small gaucho?
How small is it? Is it about the same size as the saddle pouch or roomier?

Don't think this has been posted... its the new dior i think?

Who is this? is it Jessica Simpson?? If so why does she have a kid with her?

Not too keen on the white if it looks like this being carried. Does not do anything special for me:ninja:

^ heidi klum maybe? saw quite a few of them on avenue montaigne. they're not bag, but not beautiful enough to tempt me

pre fall goucho from wwd..

Is that black, Guess? Thanks for sharing the pic! So, it looks like they're going to make more for the fall...in different colors, maybe?
