Dipti Sharma
Dipti's road to the runway has been far from smooth. Deciding that she wanted to become a model after watching the Fashion TV channel at home in India, she taught herself about the industry via Google on borrowed mobile phones, and went against her parents' wishes to enter a modelling competition. She won, but had to endure the gossip of family friends, because "models are not respected in India". Today, with two Balenciaga campaigns under her belt, she has the support of her father, who threw a party when her catwalk debut was broadcast on TV back at home.
