Donatella Versace - Designer, Creative Director of Versace

Everyone in the fashion industry knows that the house of versace is dying..if not dead already.

i think its really sad i'm not really a fan (i used to be) but it used to be one of the biggest houses in the world and now its almost dead :(

I dont think versace is just going to lay down and die :ermm:

i´m so happy to hear goods news from versace!!! and i totally agree!!!, they won´t lay down and die, there are just a lot of people that love to hate versace...

can´t wait until september the 29th :woot: (and october 4th and 8th haha)

If you were to design for versace what would have in your collection?

Slim sleek pieces. Id make it sexy without being scandalous. Black satin form fitting trench coat with a tightly cinched waist topped of with a Medusa* on the belt being the only ornamentation. A black knit floorlength dress with too long sleeves and a deep v neck on both the front and back. Black suede cropped bomber paired with high waisted (that meet the bottom of the bomber) cigarette pants. A high waisted navy floorlength super full pant-skirt, that looks like a skirt but is really pants, paired with a light gray chiffon cummberbund and a white button down shirt. Just a few ideas Im toying around with. OH...shoes by Christian Louboutin, handbags by Frida Giannini. Makeup Pat McGrath  and hair by Orlando Pita

Where would you draw inspiration from?

Ancient Rome, the glamourous elegance of togas and white chiffon, tulle, organza. I wouldnt dream of looking back into Versace's groundbreaking power dressing look or thier pants with 16 pleats, how big did thier *** look?

How would you solve finacial problems of such a special company?

Make fabulous clothes and accessories that women cannot live without. A-la Tom Ford.

Have you ever met Donatella?

No, I dont do drugs...

Have you ever gone to Versace fashion shows?

Nope, I dont really care to. If I were invited and given a front row seat...Maybe...

Like me... do you also know any versace models?

I know of Versace models...

Do you own anything from this collection?

No, Im not a hooker...

Are you buying anything from next collection?

Im eyeballing some shoes and for some reason I have a hankerin' for a Medusa belt. I dont know what is wrong with me...

* My reinvented Medusa crest. Which would still be 3D but would just be the outlines and filled in with black enameling. Im toying with the idea in my head still...

i guess you have no idea about a hooker clothes if you talk in that way about versace

You, on the other hand, are an expert in hooker clothes?

i don't know where do you live, but it's not matter to be an "expert" to see how is dressed a hooker, maybe you can recognize that with your question but there is a big difference between a hooker and versace clothes, if you have doubt search on google "hooker" images and after let me know

A hooker can wear versace clothes and look like a hooker... and a non-hooker can wear versace clothes and not look like a hooker. :flower:

I for one loved Versace's AW 2005 collection.. a BIG improvement from previous seasons.. Donatella's rehab did her much good.

if you think so, any hooker can wear every clothes of every stylist, not only versace.
i also think that all the collectiom were cute, except ss03.everybody talks on versace like a 'hooker look', but only because they have seen the ss03 or only because they follow the other person that say that.
i love fw03,04,ss04,ss05 too, and i still havent see some beatiful versace night dresses like versace make

Personally... and I am wanting to be a designer, I have always looked at Versace as an incredible luxury house... Donatella and Tom Ford have been inspirations. Don't get me wrong, there are some things in Versace i think do look trashy, however I think there is a lot of stuff that is incredible... simple and glamorous. Please note: many of the high split numbers really would only be appropriate for models... who else has thighs to get away with them?. Heres the stuff I like:

Since the only thing I've ever liked about Versace has been the prints, I'd like to see them do much more there. They had a really gorgeous coral print or two last spring. It's working for Cavalli ... who can forget that incredible blue & white print? and it's been a trademark for DVF over the years, and hasn't she come back like a phoenix from the ashes  Don't know if they're still doing china with Rosenthal, but I would carry the prints through there. The Versace woman, I imagine, is by definition going to be out of step with mainstream fashion right now--so help her really stand out from the crowd of solid black, navy, etc., and not just her but her home as well.

one of the best versace collections imo...
spring 1997 rtw.....

kinda off topic, but i thought some versace fans might be interested! :D (if you didnt already know)

  • If you were to design for versace what would have in your collection?
Ok, to me Versace is all about being colourful, vibrant and being a sexy woman - with a bit of rockstar glam thrown in. I would design clothes which accentuate curves but hide 'problem' areas (evy girl has a problem area!).
i would keep doin the sexy ball gowns and i would also do more professional wear... power career wmen HAVE money and want to spend it on work clothes that are flattering - with a bit of sex appeal too. I'm so over dowdy work wear.
  • Where would you draw inspiration from?
Powerful women. Madonna is a good start - but her star IS dwindling IMHO. Um time periods? maybe victorian? but make it modern with cutting edge fabrics!

  • How would you solve finacial problems of such a special company?
Well I am no expert on business handling. I would get more advertising out there, better PR. I would tone the shows down. I know they are about flash and oppulence, but it should be the clothes that show this - not the stage  I would concentrate on making iconic pieces - not surviving season to season. I can remember many iconic pieces from other design houses.... but none from Versace :(
I would hire models and well recognised women who are looked up to by women no matter what age, race or music/movie taste they have!
  • Have you ever met Donatella?
No... I doubt I ever will meet her either!

  • Have you ever gone to Versace fashion shows?
No, but I would love too.

  • Like me... do you also know any versace models?
No, but I wouldn't mind meeting some of the male models :brows:

  • Do you own anything from this collection?
Nope.

  • Are you buying anything from next collection?
Maybe if I won the lotto - or got a dream job straight out of uni!

Not an expert here! just a real perspective and opinion. Goodluck Versace!

I keep thinking about Spectra fashion on Bold and the Beautiful  and their revival as Spectra Couture with Thorne Forrester... maybe they should get a few tips from Sally or Thorne

Looking for pix

Hola people!

I was wondering, could someone help me out with some pictures of two dresses? I don't really know where to look, but I'd be needing some pictures.

First, a F/W '03 Versace number:

from style.com

Like, detail shots, magazine spreads, pictures of celebs wearing it on award shows... It's been available in several colors, right?

And the other one I'd need more pics of, is the red Pucci dress Nicole Kidman wore in Cannes, I think it's '03 too, but I ain't sure bout that. Are there more pics of that dress, except for it's appearance on Nicole Kidman? Like, runway shots, etc.

Thanks a lot in advance!
