Donatella Versace - Designer, Creative Director of Versace

I would love to see someone do something good for the company. I don't see Donatella making any improvements in the near or far future. I think she's doomed.

So true, Versace has lost so much of the respect it once had. It's no longer one of the Italian houses people look to for the next big thing.

Yep, now it's usually just associated with Cavalli and DSquared on this forum.

But I'll always love, or at least appreciate, Gianni's work.

i think macchiom's point is well taken...the rumour doesn't really make sense...because 20 % would not give them enough control...control and money is why they fell out with the powers at gucci... :ermm:

Gianni is a legend and a genious for what he did at that time. Versace was a unique house and it's sad his legacy had to end this way. However, Donatella didn't want her brother to be murdered, it's not like she just took over, she had too. I don't like her style, but I have to give her credits for being a mother, managing a legendary brand and cope with the tabloids. If she wants her brother to be respected she should resign, she's not the person to live up to his talent and financially the brand has been in a drag as well. Tom could give it some plastic surgery (we know she loves that) and use the legacy of Gianni to turn it into a hot brand again... What amazes me most is HOW Versace managed to stay alive for quite a long time with such hideous outdates lines?!? the jeans lines are even worse!

Wow I didnt know donatella had plastic surgery man im clueless... does anyone agree that the winter collections were disappointing?

Yeah, it's just a shame that Donatella has stuck so rigidly to that recipe. She needs to realize that Gianni's take on fashion no longer works. Every design house has to evolve at some point and I think that's where the problem lies, Versace hasn't evolved...if anything it's gone backwards a bit. I think that's why Tom would've been good for Versace, he has a talent for bringing new life to labels through giving them a new look.

But softgrey poses a good point, 20% is hardly enough to control a company, especially since it's reporting that Tom wanted Donatella out of the design picture completely. Doesn't add up if you ask me, but for anyone out there with the means and motivation to buy a house and re-vamp it Versace is ripe for the picking.

spring deliveries apparently start in february... :flower:

i know...she looks like a strange duck...

it really worries me that people like sean are thinking that this look is natural or normal because it is becoming so common with a certain group of people in the public eye...NO ONE is born looking like a duck...
not donatella, not elizabeth hurley and not posh spice...it's really very easy to spot them...
